I had to go to the bathroom really bad while at school, but the only bathroom that was open [the others were locked] was the one that all the smokers smoke in, so i had to go in there even though i hate how it smells. After i was done in the stall, i stepped out, and a faculty member i'd never seen before demanded to smell my hands to make sure i wasn't smoking. I beleive this is a violation of my rights since she had no basis to beleive that i was one of the people who was smoking. The only reason i was in that bathroom was because all the others had been locked (for reasons unknown to me)

Is this a violation of my rights? If it is, who should i tell?

Your rights were not violated. It is well known that in your school that that is the bathroom that the smokers go to. They are checking anyone who goes in there because of that. This can be a valuable lesson for you to experience when someone is being profiled. We normally think of authoritarian profiling along racial and appearance lines. Now you know how it feels to be profiled.

No rights were violated. If someone employed by the school thinks you are breaking the rules, they can check. I assume you were found not to be smoking. You really don't have any rights in school. Privacy only covers you not being videotaped in the bathroom.
