with a battery charge, your chances are slim to none for ALL branches with getting a waiver to join the security forces.

MAs/MPs must be squeaky clean.

NO. MA is one of the rates where you need a clean criminal history and battery is one of those things the Navy will never look lightly at. Same should be true with the other branches. You will need a waiver for this regardless of the job you choose, but you will be banned from certain jobs regardless of the waiver. Do some more research and choose some other job you may be interested in.

The MA rate in the Navy is pretty full right now, so it could be pretty hard to get a waiver through, especially for battery. I know the army's policy on accepting waivers for criminal history is a little more lax, but I'd imagine they'd still be tough on people who want to be MPs. Don't be afraid to ask your recruiter. You need to be as honest as possible right off the bat, if you want the same thing in return.

You HAVE to ask your recruiter...policies on this change by the minute, depending on their manpower needs.

Expect some careful scrutiny as to whether, based on your past offense, you now have the maturity to be entrusted to carry a weapon and enforce the law.
