I work for a major retail supermarket in South Florida. The other day, I went to pick up my check , and they told me that I couldn't have it, until I filled a business-related survey. Is this legal?

weak on defense? Considering that they almost all support the invasion of Afghanistan and a more aggressive war against the actual terrorists, and want us out of Iraq because that will make our military stronger? And please don't tell me that Clinton "gutted the military," I guess that's how we were able to achieve such stunning initial success in both of these wars....or did Bush single-handedly rebuild our gutted military in his first few months in office?

okay when you are born you get fingerprints and they don't change. so woulnd't it be a whole lot easier if when a baby is born they are automatically fingerprinted (with like washable ink so it would come off easily) that way when someone commited a crime and found a fingerprint it would already be in the system so they wouldn't have to go hynt for it. it would solve crimes a lot faster ans easier.

Between 1915 and 1917 the last vestiges of the Ottoman Empire in Turkey engaged in one of, if not the, first genocidal attacks in the Twentieth Century.

Recently the Democrats in the House of Representatives voted to recognize this 100 year old atrocity.

This 100 year old genocide was carried out by a government that no longer exists.

The Democratic party still exists. The Democratic party supported slavery, opposed civil rights, worked with the KKK to form the House Un-American Activities Committee (The Commie Blacklisters), imprisoned Japanese for ethnic reasons during WW2.

Since the Democrats believe that even century old events should be addressed and held against a government that rose up and rebelled against those that committed the atrocity:

Shouldn't we, as a nation:

Demand that the Democratic party disband for their ethnically motivated atrocities over the last few hundred years?

After all, this is the exact same political party.

Folks seem to align themselves with polical parties, kind of like sports teams. If you are a yankees fan, you are a yankees fan (with few exceptions), no matter who is on the team, no matter who coaches, usually no matter what. Kind of like many Republicans are behind Bush even though he (and those that support him) spend money like it does not matter and has started a war resulting in 100,000's of deaths (this is not pro-life), on admitedly false information. Democrats are currently aligning themselves behind a Clinton because she has the best chance of winning for their team.

Let's outlaw parties and people grouping together in politics before they are elected. This way folks will be forced to look at the actual issues rather than, who has the best chance of winning. I fear 100 years from now folks are still going to be thinking Dem/Rep as the two options when they are basically the same. We need new viewpoints and we need to focus on more than War, Sex Scandals and Health Care.

Claim your case. What are the pros and cons of this statement? This will be alot of help for me. Do you think Immanuel Kant will be against the thought of utilitarianism? What does utilitarianism really mean? Is it the good for many? What is redistributive justice?

Despite not knowing their greenhouse gases from their carbon credits, or that DDT was a bad thing, did they live "greener" lives than we?

By and large, they used less water, imported less food, bought fewer cars, built much smaller homes and threw out way less garbage.

Nearly everything my mom's family (11 including parents) ate was grown, fished or hunted right on their land.

Sinking one's teeth into a juicy drumstick meant first raising the chickens, and throwing away any part of that chicken would have been nothing short of criminal.

Clothes were handed down whenever possible. Frugality became an imperative, burned into their blood. Waste was more than a pile of useless rubbish; it was lost opportunity, something to be eyed with suspicion and disdain.

Doesn't consumerism's magic act depends upon a certain sleight of hand to convince us that it is always better to outsource to others those things that we once did for ourselves?

Say you are out on the town in your dress uniform (for say a wedding reception, grad-night, etc), and some officer comes-up to you and "corrects" you in public over some very minor uniform discrepancy, embarassing you infront of your significant other, family, and friends. Later, you find out that that guy was an imposteur/poser, a fake US Naval or Marine Corps officer.

I heard about about a guy posing as a Navy LT, said he was both a fighter pilot AND a Navy SEAL. I wonder if he ever did that.

Genocide happens. It was happening in Iraq, Hitler's WWII even to the American Indians in the USA. Is it some strange human instinct? Survival of the fittest? A need to control and dominate? What is wrong with our species?
