Genocide happens. It was happening in Iraq, Hitler's WWII even to the American Indians in the USA. Is it some strange human instinct? Survival of the fittest? A need to control and dominate? What is wrong with our species?

The USA and it's few responsible allies work to stop genocide while being shat upon by much of the UN and it's less than honorable members.
The UN will pass meaningless resolutions and will perhaps recognize a genocide when 100 years have passed...much like our US Congress today

The only thing that would stop genocide would be to lobotomize every human being at birth. Different things trigger genocide. For instance, Hitler was attacked by a Jew in his childhood and this led him to hate all Jews. The ability of humans to decide that if there is one bad apple in a bunch the whole barrel must be destroyed is endless. But I think most genocide is a result of greed. A group of people decide they want land that some other tribe holds and therefore they attempt to kill every member of that tribe. In the process, they dehumanize their "enemy" to make it easier to kill them. Burma is not a genocide as of yet, as they are seeking to kill anyone of a democratic bent, not any particular ethnic group. It's just a bunch of greedy men at the top who don't want to give up their toys.

UN won't do squat and when countries try to stop it they get demonized.
For example US to stop saddam.
The UN will make lots of pretty promises but won't do anything.
When countries that have the worst human rights records are in control of the human rights in the UN should tell you something.
