Social Security recognizes the diagnosis from the DSM 4 but it depends on the severity and if it keeps you from being able to secure and remain in a job. You will need extensive documentation from your doctors. Most people do not get disability easily for mental disorders. Just remember, don't give up until all the appeals are exhausted. Some denials are just routine and they hope that people will give up rather than pursue an appeal.

It depends on the level of impairment. Doctor's documentation is needed with medical evidence to show the level of disability.
