Reading editorials is not going to do much for one's intelligence. There are some days that the editorials of the New York Times can be fairly balanced, but there are other times, the page can be quite slanted, one way or another. Reading is good for the brain and reading a newspaper is one way to exercise it. There are many great books out as well, from both political sides and even in the middle. Whatever one reads, it is worthwhile to read critically, asking who is writing and why they are writing what they are writing.
