You still have about a 50-50 chance of getting deployed to any war time situation. If you read some of my answers, you will be able to find out alot of information recruiters seem to leave out usually because no one asks the questions.

Depending on the base.. Division or not.. My husband has been in the Army for 6 years and has served 2 tours in Iraq. Your MOS has nothing to do with weather or not you'll deploy. If you enter in the Army during a "time of war" You need to enter with expectations to deploy. Or you'll end up like the many soldiers out there that try ome up with all the reasons in the world to stay back. Legal Specialists are needed in Iraq just as much as here on the home front.

As a Legal Specialist, you will be assigned to the Judge Advocate Generals Office which can mean that you will be deployed to any JAG office overseas, maybe in a Headquarters area and that could mean in Iraq, Afghanistan or in Europe, South Korea, Japan, anywhere that the US Army
has an opening for you. Good Luck!!

There are three ways of doing something in the Army, the right way, the wrong wasy and the Army way.
So, even if your MOS is, Jungle Warfare, , there's still a good chance of you being deployed. The only sure way of staying out of Iraq is to not join. Otherwise, it's not a matter of "if" but "when."

First off, when you ask that question u should prob tell ur MOS so we all have a fair shot at the answer. There are however not many "NON-deployable" positions. ALSO- unless u r higher ranking......been in here a while.......ur more than likely a good candidate. This is the Government. You sign the "line" they own u. more than u will ever know. I am an ARMY spouse w/ children. My husband has been in 17yrs and is also JRTC. ADVICE- listen and learn carefully. especially if u go to JRTC. That is it on the line for training before DEPLOYMENT,and they r not playing. These guys have been there- they want YOU to come home-ALIVE. cliche-STAY STRONG! Yes, u r more than likely going. NEVER believe a recruiter- shhhhh. :) Give ur parents / family the confidence in u and love from u that they need to know you r straight with them and good to go.

It would depend on your Military Occupation Specialty(MOS), also what unit you are attached to, as some are "non-deployable" and others may have orders/missions to be based/deployed to other parts of the rest of the world.

But remember, even though you may be in a non-deployable unit, they can always transfer you, especially if you have an MOS needed by a unit already deployed to Iraq.

Do not join the Army if you don't want to go to Iraq. My husband's in the Navy and on his way to Iraq. His job is a ship navigator. I don't think, 17 years ago, he would have imagined he'd have to go to Iraq and be on the ground with a bunch of soldiers. No matter what job you choose, if the Army needs a body, you can and will go.

Depends on your MOS, but the Army average is 60% goes to Iraq, Afganistan or Africa. Certain MOSs have a greater chance then others.

It does depend on what your job is. Since the troops are being stretched, most people that join are getting deployed to either Iraq or Afganstan. You may luck out. There are also places that are for support, who are not in the middle of the action.

probably-hmmm. I think it is more important for you to be willing and prepared to go to Iraq. Your parents will have fears, but if your committed to serving your country wherever and whenever then total support is what should be the message from your parents. My nephew deploys in Nov. and my son in Jan. , they have chosen their paths as I was able to do at their age. You need to ask your parents as I have asked myself, why is it okay for other parents children to be in harms way, defending all our freedoms? I am proud of them and realize any person who chooses to serve in the military is someone who has put service first, no senator or president willing puts his life on the line, but our military does so willingly everyday. God bless all that serve and to those who don't , be thankful so many are still willing to keep you free from being drafted.
