PAILIN, Cambodia - Police arrested the top surviving Khmer Rouge leader Wednesday, taking Nuon Chea to appear before a U.N-backed genocide tribunal for his role in the 1970s Cambodian regime blamed for the deaths of 1.7 million people

I've always advocated Capital Punishment for heinous crimes such as Communism. But the U.N. doesn't seem to believe in this tried-and-true penalty anymore. Remember how Kofi Annan wanted to save poor Saddam Hussein from his just punishment?

This is a complete mystery. How is it that a government that is run by a ruling elite that repeatedly abuses the population can remain in power? How is it that people choose to be willfully ignorant and refuse to oppose tyrants.

We saw this in Nazi Germany, where most of the population did nothing, as well as in the Soviet Union, and even in the United States (where the government arsoned a religious community and has enslaved the people into its military into the past, besides wrongfully convicting millions of innocent people, and even engaging in torture).

Why do people permit governments, especially governments that engage in flagrant criminal acts, to remain in existence? Why do people permit governments to commit acts of murder against their own population or other countries?

Is it because people are too weak to oppose their government? Is that is not the case, then what is the cause of this phenomenon?

(And don't say the price of tomatoes is cheaper because that's a misnomer--cheap illegal labor increases Agriculture profits, it doesn't decrease the price of our tomatoes).

They cost us about $25k in taxpayer money per year per family in social services used, crowd our freeways, trash our communities, make our schools ESL-teaching centers, cause our emergency rooms to close, use a hugely disproportionate amount of public aid, stress our natural resources and physical infrastructures, contribute massively to crime and prison overcrowding, and for the most part refuse to assimilate while remaining loyal to their home countries to the tune of grossly disrespecting the U.S. whilesending all their earnings home.
Many come here with the sole intention of having anchor babies and leeching off of taxpayer services.
What the H*L* are we allowing our Senators and "represenatatives" to get away with in supporting the current amnesty bills they want to cram through again? WAKE UP AMERICANS!

For the last 3 years my husband and I have filed our taxes separately as ‘head of household’ each. We were in a rough phase in our relationship and though not divorced; he moved in with his girlfriend and claimed her kids on his taxes.
Now things are ok again and we moved in back together.
The problem is that my immigration officer wants both our taxes for the last 4 years. How can I explain why we filed separately instead of joint?
I have 30 days to submit form I-1722 for years 2003 to present for me and spouse.

If all that Clinton did was get his pecker sucked and he got kicked out of office how is it that Bush is in office and about 4,000 of our children, mothers, fathers, etc lives has been lost and everyone is acting as though this is no big deal! I prefer a freak over a murderer!

Yesterday the world saw how far to the right america has moved, we saw those who challenge the Fascist Right be tazered and beaten for exercisng free speech. Bush and his little band of neo nazis are quick to lecture other countries about free speech and democracy while they are crushing free speech and dissent at home.

neoliberalsim and classical liberalism.

For the record, I know and recognize the differences between neoconservatives and traditional conservatives, so why can't neoliberals see that they have nothing at all in common with classical liberalism?

Example: Claiming that the Founding Fathers were liberals. I agree that they adhered to classical liberalism, but would have nothing at all to do with the neoliberal movement of today.
