a school tc/birth certificate will do.
You have to attach a copy of your marriage certificate along with the application to get it faster.

Usually you will get it in one month after application

If you have a passport, all you need is an affidavit saying she is your wife and living at the same address as yours. It takes about 1 1/2 to 2 months for the passport to reach your doorstep

rationing went out along time ago. to get a passport you must have proof of adress and abirth certificate you must be a british national and it takes up to two weeks if you use the passport check and send at the post office you can get it quicker at the passport office but costs more best to get it soon the prices go up at the end of the year

1) Depends on the State applied..
2) Depends on the Police background verification
3) Depends on the number of Address you have given.

In AP - I got police verification withing 15 days of applying + 2nd Address verification withing 45 days of applying and passport received withing 70 days of applying.

Today you can get passport in 45days to 60 days, but in emergency you can get in 7 days also.
It is mandatory to provide address proof for passport hence you cannot get a passport without that.

Electricity bill or pass-book or Insurance receipt can be used for address proof. If your application for passport is under the "tatkaal" scheme then you will get it within one week. Otherwise approximately 30 to 60 days time is required.

You don't give any info as to where you are so It is hard to say.
In the UK a passport application can take up to three months.
In Ireland its approx three to four weeks.
One can ask for a 'Fast Track' which is a few £ more but only takes a few days.
Good Luck
