Why Communism Kills: The Legacy of Karl Marx
By Dr. Fred. C. Schwarz
In 1920, when I was working as a medical missionary in South China, I was introduced to Communism by long "indoctrination" by Chinese devotees. They were so sure of themselves that sometimes I had to wonder if their interpretation of human beings and society was factual and correct while ours was illusion and error.
One day I said to the persuader: "It is plain that you totally believe what you are saying, but I can't agree. I'm sure it is against human nature."
He exploded: "You Capitalists always talk about 'human nature;' but there is no such thing. Human beings are what you make them. Capitalism makes them acquisitive, selfish; it inevitably produces clashes and WAR. Communism makes persons selfless, with concern not for themselves as individuals, but for the whole society-the masses. Thus, Communism won't lead to clashes-and the whole world at last will have PEACE!"
But there IS such a thing as human nature; and in countries under Communist control, logic demands that there must be organized and systematic killing of humans.
.......
The U.S. Senate Internal Security Subcommittee conducted investigations into the number killed in the Soviet Union and China. Their report stated that 35 million to 45 million had been killed in the Soviet Union and 34 million to 62.5 million in Communist China.
Even these figures are considered inadequate by authorities on the Soviet Union such as Solzhenitsyn and Antonov Ovesyenko. The latter, whose father led the Bolshevik storming of the Winter Palace in 1917, has recently published the book entitled The Time of Stalin-Portrait of a Tyranny. He calculates those killed as a result of the Communist conquest of Russia at 100 million.
...........
"Why does communism kill?" is-because the founder of Communism, Karl Marx, told them it was necessary to kill a large segment of the population in order to attain the basic objective of Communism.
Marx states in the Manifesto of the Communist Party:
You must, therefore, confess that by "individual" you mean no other person than the bourgeois, than the middle-class owner of property. This person must indeed, be swept out of the way, and made impossible. (Published by Progress Publishers, Moscow, 1973 edition, page 66)
Apologists for Marxism contend that Marx did not intend that this statement should be taken literally. They affirm that he was referring to the gradual elimination of property owners by the transformation of the economic system which Communism would bring to pass. They cannot deny, however, that many followers of Karl Marx, including Stalin, Mao Tse-tung, and Pol Pot have taken this affirmation literally and have proceeded to kill the "middle-class owners of property" once they have acquired power.

Some of your respondents have said the Khmer Rouge Cambodian leaders were not practicing Communism. That is blatantly false. They tried (and failed miserably) to create an AGRARIAN Communist utopia. It was typical Communist stupidity, completely disregarding reality. These idiot Communists emptied the cities and took these people to work in the fields. That would be like taking an Alaskan Huskie and expecting him to live in Saudi Arabia. Really stupid.
Second point: stupidity of this magnitude should be a crime. Certainly the results were criminal, and that is the gentlest word for it. The results were barbaric, cruel torture, and genocide, but I guess the Commie apologists just want to overlook these minor, inconvenient truths.
What should be the punishment? They should have their heads shaved, be dressed in baby diapers, and paraded around the country in a painted circus wagon so that everyone can see the dumbest animal on the planet: the agrarian Commie.
The only food these idiots should receive is the rotten fruit and eggs that people throw at them. They should be grateful for it. They gave their victims far less.
Communism = total slavery. Slavery is a crime against humanity.
Enough said.

Communism is not a crime in and of itself but people seem to have the habit of dying by the millions wherever it is put in place.
This joker from the Khmer Rouge needs to be drawn and quartered at the very least. The Nazi's were a choir boys compared to them, 2 million dead in less than a year.
I hope that you are not actually shocked that sorry bastard Kofi Annan opposes the death penalty for corrupt officials. Given the fact that he set the money record for corruption in the Oil For Food scandal, he is afraid that he might be the next one swinging from the rope.

What..the UN has power of any kind .....oh yeah...make believe as long as it is in the controlling communist government little states...as I call them. Take him to the Hague have him tired there for his crimes. He most likely will rot in jail even before the trail is ended and die like most of them do.
I personally think that he should be tired by the Hague and once he is found quilty, then he should be turned over to his country for their ultimate punishment for such crimes and it should be death with that minute.
OH well, the only reason these countries and states don't have capital punishment is because they think that is human. What about the humanity of the millions slaughter. Aw but this is our lot in life.
I hear there is a group in German that are getting things ready to pull Bush in for crimes against humanity. They should of disbanded these tribunals a long long time ago. After world war ii.

of course they must be finished. whether it has taken so long to prosecute those those that the full technique is a mockery. A bullet interior the pinnacle is extra perfect than what those human beings did to the human beings of Phnom Penh interior the Seventies. that is ludicrous to point that anybody is in charge different than people who did it. If we are to song accountability back to appropriate motives, the leaders of the Cambodian Communists - Khmer Rouge - have been knowledgeable in Paris by the Left - so Jean Paul Sartre.

Well for the genocide, he should be executed.
For being a communist, he should be "reeducated" because, after all, John Kerry said reeducation camps in Vietnam didn't hurt anyone.
Now if he's a NeoCom, then he should be forced to listen Rosie Odonnell/Hillary Clinton/Nancy Pelosi screech recordings and then sent on to reeducation.

I believe in following the law. If Chea is tried and convicted of genocide by a tribunal that does not provide for capital punishment, then he should get a life sentence.

Communism not murder?
Little Father Stalin's gulags, and Lenin's Bolshevik head knockers?
Chairman Mao's 'cultural revolution'?
Ceausescu was a humanitarian along the lines of Kim jong ill, Uncle Ho and Pol Pot?
Communism and Socialism have killed more people than any war over religion in the past century.

He should be executed.
Also, he was/is a communist, unlike what other answerers are writing. Khmer Rouge is a communist Maoist faction. http://www.gmu.edu/departments/economics/bcaplan/museum/cook.htm
Liberals don't realize communism has killed more people than Hitler. They don't know pictures of the revolutionaries Che or Mao are just as bad as swastikas.
1) 100 Million dead and counting because of communism.
2) Chinese leaders still pray to the mass murder that killed 70 million people.(newest figure is 70 million dead)
3) Each year that goes by, China points more missiles at the U.S. and at U.S. soldiers stationed in Asia.
4) China is trying to bankrupt the U.S. by devaluing its currency while pegging the dollar.
5) A communist general in China has threatened to nuke the U.S..(2005)
6) A leader of China talked of nuclear bombing Japan. (2006).
7) China still arrests priests for praying. Most of the priests have permanently disappeared.
