"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Senate voted on Tuesday to block funding for a Bush administration test program to let Mexican long-haul trucks operate in the United States under 1994's North American Free Trade Agreement.

One day after a fiery truck accident killed dozens in Mexico, the Senate approved an amendment to a transportation spending bill that would cut off funding for the test, which the administration authorized last week to run for one year.

The House of Representatives has passed a similar measure.

The White House on Tuesday threatened to veto the broad transportation bill because it would spend more money than President George W. Bush requested. It said the administration opposes any restrictions on the cross-border trucking program."

Someone else's answer, to a different question, made it clear to me that some Democrats think they already have the 2008 elections wrapped up. Well, I can only tell you that I have voted Democrat, more often than not, and the Democrats do not have me wrapped up by any means. If the Democrats don't get straight on a couple of things, such as illegal immigration, they will not get my vote. And let me assure you that I know for a fact that I am not the only person, who is usually inclined to vote Democrat, that feels this way. Illegal immigration is a deal breaker for many of us.
Have the Democrats become so arrogant as to believe that they will win simply because the Republicans are stuck with Bush's record?

I was thinking of having something molded to fit the knife. It has a belt clip for a right hand draw so perhaps the belt clip could pinch the leather for added hold. For the leather itself, I was thinking of a thick, heavy leather, black, and an open-ended sheath meaning no button flap.

The brain neurons of liberals and conservatives fire differently when confronted with tough choices, suggesting that some political divides may be hard-wired, according a study released Sunday.
.....
Dozens of previous studies have established a strong link between political persuasion and certain personality traits.

Conservatives tend to crave order and structure in their lives, and are more consistent in the way they make decisions. Liberals, by contrast, show a higher tolerance for ambiguity and complexity, and adapt more easily to unexpected circumstances.
...
The match-up was unmistakable: respondents who had described themselves as liberals showed "significantly greater conflict-related neural activity" when the hypothetical situation called for an unscheduled break in routine.

Conservatives, however, were less flexible, refusing to deviate from old habits "despite signals that this ... should be changed."

What America didn't invent it improved. We have been the world leader in freedom, economics, and the arts almost from the day we became a nation. I say if you loath the US so much I hear that North Korea is nice this time of year and Dear Leader can always use more drones.

My 14 year old daughter's first assigment this year was a 9/11 project and they let the kids do anything they wanted, poem, picture, sculpture etc. She made a beautiful power point slide show of different 9/11 images and set it to Lee Greenwood's God Bless the USA. She presented it to her class today (about 25 kids) and they applauded and her teacher gave her an "A". I was proudly telling a co-worker about it and they said that she could get in trouble for publicly using that song without permission. Can she? It seems like it wouldn't be any different than someone playing it on a CD player or something.
