The Court is not going to be interested in any excuses or extenuating circumstances, they are going to issue the verdict based on the fact the he drove impaired and put not only himself, but everyone else at risks by his poor decision making.

As elections are coming up here shortly, they could chose to make an example out of him for zero tolerance and they do have medical facilities in jails.

Plead not guilty at arraignment and hire a good lawyer to see about a plea bargain.

don't talk to us talk to MADD who cranked up the penalties and lowered the drunk limit down to .08

cops and judges dont give a dam if you die in jail..trust me they would not give my meds until I turned blue from asthma attacks.

anyways after he dies in jail get a good lawyer and sue the crap out of them.

plead not guilty and fight it get some money up to bail him
doesnt matter if he confessed and they got all the proof in the world just hire a cheap lawyer that keeps postponing a trail date after about a year the judge will give you a sweet deal just to throw it out.

plead not guilty & hire a lawyer. The charge might get reduced to impaired driving.

never drink and drive! the criminal must pay for the crime -it's too bad the sentence won't be harsher.
