Petraeus is more of a lawyer than a soldier. That's a big reason why the administration went with him for the Iraq occupation... Franks was a total soldier and look at how things went. The administration needs someone to silver tongue all of this while they figure what can be done to fix it (or at least cover their a**es until the next schmuck is elected).

He didn't evade anything. He told him that he was focused on his mission, which was Iraq. All of Petraeus's colleagues say that he's very honest, respectable and experienced. He's the man in uniform, on the ground. I believe him and have absolutely no reason not to.

It was a stupid question from an idiot and it is not the generals job to decide what is best for the country. He does the mission he is told to do.

Maybe he didn't appreciate the way he was getting baited and wanted to answer in a way that his words wouldn't be twisted as so happens so often. No, I doubt he is lying.

Do humans lie? Are Generals human? I suppose that most of them lie sometimes but most libs lie most of the time, especially to themselves.
