I agree with your assessment to the comparison between both fanatic belief systems.
I think that the difference in their behaviors is that the laws in this country do not allow the same things as in the middle east. Women have more laws to protect them in the U.S. Not that some fanatic conservative men don't want "their" women to be subservient to them, but that they don't get away with it as much as in the Middle East where it is acceptable to treat women worse than an animal.

I think that there are radical fanatics on all sides of the issues, not just jihadist muslims or conservatives .

Fanatacism has the same characteristics for all groups, delusionary belief systems, no tolerance for anyone or anything different from themselves or who has a differing opinion.

There can be fanatatical Elvis fans, John Denver fans, sports fans, religious people, political people and on and on. No kind of fanatacism contributes to world, but it does polarize it.

No incorrect, I am a conservative and I would be more than happy to live my life in peace, now the muslims attacked us and forced us to make a decision. Convert or fight. You can convert if you want to. but to protect my Country and family I would rather fight. I don't believe in torture, but the enemy does, ask Danial Pearl's family.
