I'm no political affiliation as I don't like either party - but, I keep hearing that Republican's are against Govt. intervention. How is this when over the past 8 years their have been threats made to ammending the Constitution, threats of overturning Roe V. Wade and threats to Freedom of Speech, your ability to Dissent to this Government, the war, (i.e you hate America) "Deceny" Laws, Bush's Privacy bill, etc. etc. How can this be anti-Government when the Government seems to be looming over all of us for the past 8 years? I have never of such things from Democrats.

I don't buy that Republican's are for small Government. At least, this administration at least.

I'm pro-life, and a conservative. However, as of late, I do not believe a sing word that comes out of a politicians mouth. For roughly six years of Bush's presidency, he had a congress that was majority republican. (Obviously that changed in the mid-term elections). Didn't it ever occur to you that even though the republicans claim to be pro-life, they never tried to overturn Roe v. Wade? All it would have taken was a simple majority, which they had, and and the President's signature, which he's is supposed to be pro-life so they should have had that too. Why did this never happen?

I'm don't believe the federal government should outlaw abortion. I think it should be left up to the states to make that decision.

OK that should set a few of you off. Please read it all.
If you blindly follow party lines, you are a victim…. their process has worked and they have a vote and they have divided us.
Remember, the oldest tactic is to divide and conquer.
Who? Us…American citizens.
The political system in America has grown into a large and nasty beast. This beast is hungry. It eats people, also known as “votes”. This beast has no regard for you and I, just for our support and the voting booth and our ability to make money so the government share can be confiscated.
It should be painfully obvious to anyone who has ever cracked open a history book (an old one not one of the “new and approved” ones) that what is going on has happened before. Many of the old political systems went through all of the processes we see going on now.
Some of you keep screaming Nazi without the slightest clue of who or what they were. There are politicians today that are trying to use the nazi tactics as well as many other tactics from political and military history.
Read up on these things…..know your opponent. Freedom is being stolen from us continuously.
Please pay attention to ALL politicians and take time to research what they say. Their ideas are not new, but they are effective in swaying opinions.
What do you think?

Providing he isn't incarcerated for financial irregularities or just being a knob, I think Galloway might just take this ward. He is already appealing to the anti-war and homophobic elements of the constituency in poplar and canning town, by making heavy weather of Fitzpatrick's record on voting for the war and gay rights. Whatever can be said about Galloway, there can be no doubt he is the king of the opportunists!

You know, the amendment Clinton signed in the 1990's that Frank Lautenberg sponsored. Puts a lifetime ban from firearms ownership on anyone convicted of even a misdemeanor incident of family violence. Yell at your spouse or slap them, and you could be banned. For life. Even though the incident didn't involve a firearm.

Doesn't affect me personally, but I see this as creeping gun control designed to sabotage the natural rights of all of us.

Even worse, this law is an ex post facto law, which should be unconstitutional in that regard alone.

Are we going to let this law stand?

My suggestions:

1) I urge the people of New Jersey to vote this anti-patriot Frank Lautenberg out of office.
2) I urge Congress to repeal the Lautenberg amendment
3) I urge Congress to censure Frank Lautenberg for his assault on freedom and slander against gunowners (implying that gunowners are wife-beaters and that such a law is needed).

to a national average of 77.8 years. This puts us at 14th in the world. Since we are constantly told by the right wingers that we (in the US) have the very BEST health care system in the world due to private insurance under the guise of competition, how can we possibly equate the two any longer? Facts are facts

Is this the real reason why people are so scared of illegals? I however, am not as scared as some people on Yahoo Answers even with all these scare tactics like disease, identity theft, less jobs, and the list goes on. You see nobody has scared me with something that illegals cause, because all these problems would still be here even if all the illegals did leave. I really am not asking this question to start a debate. I really am interested in the reason why people are afraid and Im not. Is it because I Mexican/American? I cant even speak Spanish but illegals still dont bother me. So, I challenge Anti- illegals to show me the light!

They talk about fences, securing our borders, penalizing employers and so on. What about the 21 or so million illegals that are here? First of all, they are telling us that there are only 12 million. This is impossible when you do the math. There has been an overwhemling 65% growth in the last twenty years. This is propaganda by our government. Using propaganda is a technique mostly used in countries like Cuba and North Korea. The purpose is to get the people to think how you want them to think. We must not believe the lies. We must not accept anything short of FULL exportation of illegals. Watch how it becomes a real cat fight when we adamantly insist that Washington sends illegal back to whereever. . All of a sudden, La Raza will become unglued. They pretend as if they oppose all this talk about border security, not true. As long as the illegals are here, they are at peace. Little do they know what is in store down the road!!!

From the Aug 11th Associated Press release

Americans are living longer than ever, but not as long as people in 41 other countries.
For decades, the United States has been slipping in international rankings of life expectancy, as other countries improve health care, nutrition and lifestyles.
Countries that surpass the U.S. include Japan and most of Europe, as well as Jordan, Guam and the Cayman Islands.

"Something's wrong here when one of the richest countries in the world, the one that spends the most on health care, is not able to keep up with other countries," said Dr. Christopher Murray, head of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington.
