I'm no political affiliation as I don't like either party - but, I keep hearing that Republican's are against Govt. intervention. How is this when over the past 8 years their have been threats made to ammending the Constitution, threats of overturning Roe V. Wade and threats to Freedom of Speech, your ability to Dissent to this Government, the war, (i.e you hate America) "Deceny" Laws, Bush's Privacy bill, etc. etc. How can this be anti-Government when the Government seems to be looming over all of us for the past 8 years? I have never of such things from Democrats.
I don't buy that Republican's are for small Government. At least, this administration at least.

Republicans and democrates are two different wings on the same bird Their agenda is the same. If clinton wins this election it will be 30 years of bush and clintons and all the while goverment is getting bigger. If you really want a true change with limited goverment go to ronpaul2008.com and watch the video candidates@ google and watch the entire video. you will be amazed . this man knows exactly what he is talking about. also go to YOU TUBE and put in his name at the straw poll and watch that speech as well. He is truley a constitutionalist. Ron Paul has a really big following on the internet only because the internet is not being regulated....yet

No, they have abandoned their fiscal values completely.
From 2004 "Under Bush, Federal Spending Increases at Fastest Rate in 30 Years"
Since 2001, even with record low inflation, U.S. federal spending has increased by a massive 28.8% (19.7% in real dollars)—with non-defense discretionary growth of 35.7% (25.3% in real dollars)—the highest rate of federal government growth since the presidencies of Richard Nixon and Lyndon Johnson. This increase has resulted in the largest budget deficits in U.S. history, an estimated $520 billion in fiscal year 2004 alone.
And that was before Homeland Security and the Iraq war kicked into high gear.

I, as a libertarian conservative, could somewhat adhere to the form and leave it as much as STATE GOVERNMENTS to prohibit/enable gay marriage. that is only approximately comical how liberals can't draw close the thought that a State government can function devoid of the intervention of the federal government. And in accordance to the form, it extremely is how united statesa. became designed to run! enable the State governments to handle those matters by way of legislating and imposing properly. Having the federal government verify such matters is asinine, and intensely frankly, unamerican.

as long as extremist special interest groups on both sides who want to tell everyone what to do control the parties there will be no real small government platform in either the republcan or democratic party, although the republicans seem to do a good job pretending. if you're looking for a small government candidate do some research on congressman ron paul.

What the Republicans represent is a marriage between corporate interests and government contracts.

Hypocracy brought on by the neocons and the Bushies. Obvious when not blinded by non thinking absolute obedience to the Administration. They have screwed over the GOP as well as everyone else.

When reps say they are against big govt, they mean they are against social programs to help the poor and ordinary people live decent lives. They are against govt spending for welfare, for education, for health care, for mental health, the environment etc. They spend big on things like war, spying on american citizens, and keeping people like gays down. Clinton balanced the budget and reduced the deficit while improving programs for ordinary citizens and the environment.

Some are, some aren't.
Anyone wanting something banned, is pro-big government.
to ban something, it requires more law enforcement, more taxes to pay for it, and more laws; three things that don't hand-in-hand with a less powerful central government.
