Will they deal with her at all? This is not a negative comment about Hillary, but of women leaders in general. The Muslim leaders would HAVE to deal with our leader regardless of how they feel about her sex. They will just have to deal with it - your thoughts?

I've heard many neocons defend Bush's illegal wiretapping program using the excuse that if you have nothing to hide, then there is no reason to be worried.

So what are Miers and Bolton (or Bush) worried about that they have put themselves in contempt of Congress?

If someone wants to move to the US but has something on their criminal record (ie caught with coke 2 years ago in the UK,) would it be impossible to get a visa? What about marriage? If a US citizen marries someone from the UK with a criminal record, could that person still gain citizenship?

This question isn't about whether you personally think he's guilty or innocent, or even how you feel about dogs. In our justice system, a jury is supposed to consider a defendant innocent until the prosecution presents evidence that proves his guilt. But I haven't heard ANYONE look at this case that way... everyone already seems to be pretty confident he's guilty. Can they actually find 12 jurors that haven't already made up their minds and will listen to evidence objectively?

U S veterans of the Iraqi war have to sue the officials of the Veteran's Affairs over disability pay and medical care. How many times have the cons said, "democrats don't support our troops"? Is this how this administration supports them? Is the picture becoming clearer to you right-wingers? This kind of neglect of our wounded veterans is unforgiveable!

How the Energy Dice Were Loaded
The names of some of the corporate big shots and industry lobbyists who helped shape the deliberations and conclusions of the super-secret Cheney energy task force in 2001 are now beginning to surface, thanks to a former White House aide who provided a list to The Washington Post.
It’s interesting to discover that Kenneth Lay, Enron’s chairman, was favored with two audiences. But the rest is sadly familiar. The task force, which developed a national energy policy, had all the time in the world for the big energy producers — some 40 meetings with the oil, gas and coal companies and their trade associations — but barely a moment for environmentalists.

Hi, my fiance is enlisting in the United States Navy. We want to get married before he leaves for bootcamp. The recruiter said that we should wait until afterwards to avoid the dependency waiver? What is this? What do they look at? Also, I read someplace if you are married they do a financial eligibility determination and examine your credit. Would my credit also be examined with his? Would they do a background check on me? Any advice and tips on when we should marry and what all the steps involved are, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you :-)

Why Won’t Al Gore Debate?

Author: Joseph L. Bast
Published by: The Heartland Institute
Published in: News Releases
Publication date: June 2007

CHICAGO, IL: In recent months, former vice president Al Gore has become the world’s most recognized advocate of the theory that human greenhouse gas emissions are altering the world’s climate and could cause catastrophic damage if not arrested and reduced. He is getting hundreds of millions of dollars in free publicity from the press and from environmental groups that echo his warning.

But Al Gore refuses to debate those who say global warming is not a crisis.

Maybe it’s because climate alarmists tend to lose when they debate climate realists. Or because most scientists do not support climate alarmism.

Dennis Avery, coauthor of the best-selling book Unstoppable Global Warming: Every 1,500 Years, is still waiting for Gore to respond to his April 16 formal debate challenge:

[Our two] books represent the two leading explanations for the earth’s recent temperature changes—and they conflict. If global warming truly is the most important public policy issue of our day, then it is high time the public got to hear the arguments from both sides matched up against each other. How else can people make informed decisions? Therefore, I formally challenge you to debate me at a public event, preferably to be televised or carried by a radio station, sometime in the coming months.

Avery is director of the Center for Global Food Issues and senior fellow at the Hudson Institute. He holds awards for outstanding performance from three different government agencies and was awarded the National Intelligence Medal of Achievement in 1983. He travels the world as a speaker, has testified before Congress, and has appeared on most of the nation's major television networks. He is well-qualified to debate Gore ... and certainly at least merits the decency of a response to his challenge, which he has yet to receive.

Avery is not the only person to challenge Gore to debate. Lord Monckton of Brenchley, a former advisor to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, issued the following challenge on March 14:

The Viscount Monckton of Brenchley presents his compliments to Vice-President Albert Gore and by these presents challenges the said former Vice-President to a head-to-head, internationally-televised debate upon the question “That our effect on climate is not dangerous,” to be held in the Library of the Oxford University Museum of Natural History at a date of the Vice-President’s choosing.

Forasmuch as it is His Lordship who now flings down the gauntlet to the Vice-President, it shall be the Vice-President’s prerogative and right to choose his weapons by specifying the form of the Great Debate. May the Truth win! Magna est veritas, et praevalet.

Like Avery, Lord Monckton is eminently qualified to debate Gore—see here and here for his recent writing on global warming—and Gore thought highly enough of him to respond to one of his essays. Like Gore, Lord Monckton is a prominent figure in the global warming debate who is not a scientist or professional economist. He would seem to be an appropriate and worthy opponent.

But Gore refuses to debate Lord Monckton, just as he refuses to debate Dennis Avery and a growing list of prominent scientists, economists, novelists, and policy experts.

If the scientific debate over global warming is over, as Gore and other climate alarmists so often claim, why is Al Gore afraid to debate?

Is it because there is no scientific consensus on the causes or effects of global warming? Is it because a growing number of experts believe we should invest in adapting to global warming—whether it is due to natural or human causes—rather than spend hundreds of billions of dollars trying to stabilize or reduce greenhouse gas emissions?

Whatever the reason, we believe Al Gore should debate his critics. If you agree, please ask Al Gore to accept Dennis Avery's challenge.

Dennis Avery can be contacted directly via email at cgfi@hughes.net.

For those of you who are constantly droning on about how we're losing in Iraq, could I get some good solid reasons why? I've never heard anyone back up that statement.

"You know what was really amazing? The people who said, 'Chris, you know, I don't support the cause, but no matter what the cause, I'm always going to support the troops.' I was just dumbfounded by that. I asked this one guy why you don't support the cause. He said, 'I've been watching the news.' "Well," I said, "that's your problem."

Why are the protesters and non-supporters saying that over 3000 deaths from this war and that it was such a mistake because of all the deaths of our troops, but in WW2 there was over 6000 and people seem to honor that war ? War is war, and is so sad that anyone has to perish, but its war it comes with it. I don't understand this ? I am not saying this war is good or anything, of course in a perfect world there wouldn't be wars but we don't live in a perfect world. Why can't we all just honor the ones fighting, at home and the ones that died. I think that of course when things get ugly people want to change their minds and do something else but nothing would ever be completed if we all did that.

Al's Diary Notes :::

Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more. .. NO !!

Once I rose above the noise and confusion
Just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion
I was soaring ever higher . . . . But I flew too high
Though my eyes could see I still was a blind-man
Though my mind could think I still was a Mad-Man
I hear the voices when I'm dreamin
I can hear them say. . ..

Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more. . . NO !!

(enjoy the musical interlude. . . tap your desks , play the air-guitar for all your co-workers)

Masquerading as a man with a reason
My Charade is the event of the season
And if I claim to be a wise man
It surely means that I don't know

On a stormy sea of moving emotion
Tossed about I'm like a ship on the ocean
I set a course for the winds of for-tune
But I hear the voices sa-a-a-a-y

Carry on my wayward son. . . . ..

In our area unemployment is high....meth and oxycotin addiction is ramphant. We live in a rural area. The break ins are increasing as they are moving from the city to country homes to raid.
We have posted "No Tresspassing" signs, have 3 dogs that are on the property, lock up everything we can lock. We live so far out that an alarm system is pretty much useless because crimminals would know that they have plenty of time before the law would get here. All neighbors watch out for each other but can't do so every minute.
I won't post a sign like "This property protected by Smith & Wesson" because I feel that it will put a bigger target on the property.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Please, let's make this a civil Q/A. I am really not looking for d/a answers.
Thanks
