My husband is a nuke just recently stationed on the new carrier the Bush in Newport News VA. I noticed that he no longer gets special duty pay on his LES. Is he supposed to receive this pay? and if so, does anyone know how much per month?

thanks for the answers-
it was just odd because he was in upstate NY at the ballston spa plant and the reactors weren't always working and he still received special duty. and that wasn't even on a ship/sub.
But I think I understand- thanks!

That carrier is still being built. It might be counted as shore duty. So that could be the reason he's not getting it. Mine was $150/month when I got out in 05.

that ship is being built so there really is nbo need for special duty pay seeing as he cant do his actual job right now he is helping build the plant. as are every other sailor they are building their departments.

my husband was a nuke on the ike he didnt get special duty pay when they were in the yards either. the reactors are not working so there is no need for the special pay since its a type of hazard pay. theres no hazard sop no need paying them for it

Sure let's pay em extra - where should the money come from? Would you be willing to contribute, say, $150 a year to the cause?

Since the carrier is still being built and the reactor is not active, your husband is not being paid yet.
Say "hi" to him and our thanks for serving!
