Why are the protesters and non-supporters saying that over 3000 deaths from this war and that it was such a mistake because of all the deaths of our troops, but in WW2 there was over 6000 and people seem to honor that war ? War is war, and is so sad that anyone has to perish, but its war it comes with it. I don't understand this ? I am not saying this war is good or anything, of course in a perfect world there wouldn't be wars but we don't live in a perfect world. Why can't we all just honor the ones fighting, at home and the ones that died. I think that of course when things get ugly people want to change their minds and do something else but nothing would ever be completed if we all did that.

I hear them when they say pull them out, ok if we did then what ? They are not saying what the next step they would try to do. Its all about how to pull them out not what do happens after. Didn't we pull them out last time with the previous Bush, and they still came at us harder then before.???? I think that if enemies are in Iraq,Pakistan or Iran, then we should be there I would rather the war be there then here. If your problem is with Bush then protest at the white house not at military bases or our military funerals.

I do remember that after 9/11 most all americans did want the war. So why change your mind because its not going to your liking ? Don't some think that possibly if there were weapons that they could have been moved ? I feel that after 9/11 I don't care what country did it but whoever did it and all who help should be found and killed.Who ever is helping them now, the same thing for them. If we are in the wrong place ok get to the right place. Why would U.N. care it didn't happen to them ? I believe in what my husband is fighting for over there.

In World War II our military death total was 407,300 and our civilian deaths were 11,200. That is a total of 418,500 Americans killed. The Soviet Union, China, Japan and Germany had more than 20,000,000 military deaths! A staggering number of lives sacrificed in combat. The significant difference between now and then is that people could see quite clearly that we were fighting for the survival of our country and way of life. While no war is good, World War II was as close to a "good" war as the American people had ever seen. Now the lines of war are blurred. We know that there is a radical Muslim terrorist threat and that they have attacked us on our own soil but we see no uniformed enemy or single country to focus on. Without this visual threat people tend to discount and disbelieve the authenticity of the war. But it is a very real war and the problem is that it must be fought differently from the wars of the past. Osama bin Ladin stated that "American people have no stomach for war and when the casualties begin to climb they will demand their Army withdraw." In his jihad against the United States he directed Al Qaida to kill all Americans - men, women and children - not just in America but all over the world. Our troops in Iraq are doing a tremendous job in trying to stabilize and strengthen the Iraqi government and military. Without our troops being present radical Muslims would overthrow the current government and force Iraq into becoming a radical Muslim country ruled by an extremist government. Certainly, the Iraqis want us to leave but they also realize the extreme hardship they would undergo if we did leave. So the protesters and non-supporters need to step back and realize that our troops are fighting a good and just battle against an enemy that desires to control the world.

I salute you and your husband, you are truly bearing the load of this war.
This war is now a different war than what the congress and the people were told we getting into. Bin Laden and his people were who we thought we were going after. Then while the president changed the game to Iraq, he let the real bad guy get away. Once we were in Iraq, it was a snowball effect, just kept getting bigger. There are many areas in where this war has been miss managed. A growing number of US citizens are waking up to these facts and are not happy with the path this administratin has taken us down. Unfortunately the number of KIAs is the yard stick which this mistake is being measured by.
Don,t be mislead by those that compare this war to WW II. Unlike Japan, Iraq did not invade our soverign territory and sink half our Navy. Hussain was a terrible person and did horrible things to his people. During the time he was gassing his people, we were backing him in his war with Iran. Then when our people were captured and held hostage in Lebenon we supplied Iran with weapons that were used to fight Iraq. iran caused the release of our people. To further complicate the matter, we were taking the money we got from the arms sale to Iran and were buying weapons for the rebels that were overthrowing the duely elected government of Nicaragua.
As you can see we have played games all around the world, switched sides when it was to our benifit and double crossed friends and foe alike.
So, in final answer to your question, many feel that this war is wrong and our troops are dying for quetionable reasons.
Hope your husband gets back safe and sound.

I think the problem is not that people are dying (although that's obviously not helping) but rather that they're dying for no apparent reason. I'm married to a Marine, and see people all the time coming back from Iraq saying that the tactics they are using just don't work. I personally support the troops - they are just doing their job and we would all be in big trouble without them - but I don't like the direction the war itself is taking. Every time things go badly, the answer is to send more people. Obviously it's time to try a different strategy. Either that, or just bring them home before more people get killed in a war that isn't working. Either way is fine.

I agree with you...

For some reason, people (mainly liberals) seem to think that the Military ONLY supports the Bush administration, not the fact that they support the government.......

The military has been there since the beginning, through 43 different presidents, republicans and democrats too....

So I agree, why hate the troops??? Just because you may not agree with the war, doesnt mean you have to hate the troops...

We honor the men and women who die in any war. This war is no different. The fact is that this war was uncalled for, it is an act of revenge by our president for Hussein outsmarting his daddy. No one wanted this war. The UN told George Bush to let them go in and see if there were any WMDs, and he just took us in anyway. He is responsible for the deaths of the soldiers. They are doing a great job! They are just fighting Bush's personal war.

i think that congress and bush should say to the generals that are in charge this is the mission and let them plan and carry it out and keep the politics out of it. maybe we shouldnt have went in the first place but we did so now we should let the soldiers have what they need to win.
