History textbooks for Israeli Arab students this year will for the first time present the Palestinian version of Israel’s creation as a “catastrophe,” the education ministry said on Sunday.

“For these types of events, both the Israeli and Palestinian versions have to be presented,” Education Minister Yuli Tamir said in a statement.

Alongside presenting the Israeli interpretation of the 1948 Arab-Israeli war, the books will also present the version “that is generally accepted among the Arabs, according to which Israel’s War of Independence is perceived as a catastrophe (Naqba) by the Palestinians,” Tamir said.

Mahamu Kanneh, a Liberian native who received asylum in this country and attended high school and community college here, according to The Washington Post, was denied a speedy trial after three years awaiting a court-appointed interpreter who could speak the tribal language of Vai.

A court-ordered psychiatrist determined that Kanneh, despite his functional facility with English — he originally spoke with detectives in English, The Post reports, needed to have Vai spoken in order to understand the proceedings against him.

Giraldo is suing the state prison system and several guards over the state's policy of assigning inmates like her to men's or women's prisons depending on whether they have had a sex change.

"Prisons are violent places, and male prisons are especially violent places," said Greg Walston, a lawyer who took Giraldo's for free and asked a jury this week for unspecified damages. "You take that boiling cauldron and you put one woman in there — which is exactly what happened here — and it's like throwing a fresh piece of meat into a lion's cage."

Giraldo, 30, claims Folsom State Prison guards ignored her complaints and returned her to the same cell until she was assaulted again, then placed in protective custody and moved to another facility.

Spring Valley, N.Y., Mayor George Darden won't be facing state civil or criminal charges for hiring illegal aliens to work on an urban revitalization project in his village, but Department of Labor officials informed him yesterday that the $10 an hour he paid 10 men doesn't comply with the state's prevailing wage law and taxpayers will have to pay the illegals the difference of about $30 an hour.

Here is a guy who pushed for war in Iraq advocated for torture and a few other lovely things -

He has been one of the forces behind the Patriot act and has said things like the President needs to be able to operate more freely - without constitutional snags etc

Now he says he doesn't want to run (they all say that)

If another attack were to happen as Bush has told us "It is not behind us" Alquiada is getting stronger etc

Then the Presidential Directive 51 would come into effect

The "devolution of authority" would be left up to Homeland security -

There would be martial law in the US - (one emergency away)

So if American went to the polls - it would be with tanks and guns and soldiers and the whole process would be up to Homeland security -

Bush and Cheney's buddy

Would you vote for Cheney and would it matter if you did ?

Will Cheney be the next President of the US

Or do I just need to get a more fullfiulling job so I have less time

i broke into a house got caught police came up to me and started beating me actually 2 i was falsly accused of tryn to hit the cops i plaeded guilty for the burglary but i didnt plead guilty for attacking the cops and i go to court 4 the 4th time and the judge didnt even ask any of that, its obvious their covering the cops and they put that on my record i know i can sue the cops but im mad at the judge actually the system nowonder their used to b outlaws AND FOR ALL THE PUBLIC DEFENDERS F*#K U PUBLIC PRETENDERS

I recently enlisted in the National Guard and my MOS is 63B light wheel mechanic. i leave for BCT in 17 days and i know what to expect there but i do not know what to think about AIT. Can i leave on weekends can i have phones, laptops, tv what is there to do. when do i get outa class, and am i allowed to go home. LAPD wants, my full name, address, all my previous address, all my previous work, my social security number, my mother's maiden name, bank name & bank account numbers, all my credit card name and numbers etcetera. They have more information about me than what I can remember. Is it safe regarding identity theft? I am afraid that one bad LAPD employee might use my info to do identity theft. I was in mexico and the cops harrassed me.. surprise surprise.. first I was detained for being on an illegal street.. I demanded the consulate and they "let me go".. then a half hour later I was talking to some hooker on the side of street (you walk by and they grab at you).. So I leave and get half way down the street when some mexican cop slams me and a friend against the wall. he convieniently pulls the hookers wallet out of my pocket.. with like 5 dollars in it.. then handcuffs me and a friend and drags us throught the streets to jail.. The cop is banging his baton on the walls ect.. to intimidate us.. they steal 40 out of my friends wallet and 60 out of mine. then tell me the hooker has 100 and 2500 pesons stolen (even though I had no pesos on me) Then it becomes 200 then 1000 dollars. (because I had things to do stateside) I eventually had to hand the cop a bribe through the jail cell of $60 (he said .. it was for the hooker to make her whole) wait for more..
