I have several friends who are citizens of different countries and it seems as though they tell me that Americans are often critisized by the international community for being close-minded and materialistic.

We are seen as being closed minded because of our current stance in the world; Americans don't know as much about other countries and cultures as other countries, we often expect other to accommodate us when visiting another country, and we often try to impose our beliefs and values on other people.

We are seen as materialistic because of the wealth of our country in comparison to the rest of the world. Americans are often viewed as being selfish with their money, using it only for their own person gain while ignoring that of others. I've even been told that some people in forign countries that we are seen as money worshipers, putting money before people.

So if anything I think we as Americans should work on being more understanding and open to other country's and culture's values and beliefs instead of belieing ours are more superior. We should also be more open to helping the less fortunate with our massive wealth.

Since you didn't specifically mention political criticisms... I think a lot of Americans, especially young Americans, don't know enough about what's going on in the world. I mean, I've got a buddy a who thinks Al-Jazeera is a terrorist group. Read the news, people.

Americans are not unified in thoughts, just as we all are.
In fact many Americans criticize their own system of administering both national and international issues. The government talks SO BIG, thinks SO HUGE, and sensationalizes even insignificant issues or events. They want fake and well acted heroic scenes be seen on worldwide screens...Sadly, the truth was often covered up.

none because as americans, we all have different views of the world, both morally, economically, randomly, etc. We have this because our government allows for this, so the only thing that would be able to be changed would be to not allow us to believe whatever we want, and this would destroy the foundation on which we are built. Some countries do not so forcefully do this, but covertly do this with laws and other shady ways.

Go back to the original principles of the Constitution. They are what our country was founded on and what has kept it strong for over 200 years.

Less globalization, the USA has enough domestic issues to overcome. We exascerbate our own problems by putting businesses in other countries.

That we attack others too much. I think we need to mind our own business and only help when we are called upon, which we were NOT in the case of Iraq.

That America is the sole repository of democracy in the world.
A close second would be that America is the oldest continuing democracy in the world.

Accept the truth and admit you were wrong, very, very wrong!

US of A may then retain some of its credibility or the minute amount that's left.
