Is it possible to give the welfare money only to those who NEED it? What can be done to prevent all the leeches from sucking the system dry? I want to live in a country where I can get help if I ever need it, not a country that lets people take advantage. Not only are they leeches, our tax dollars are paying them to stay that way, with no incentive to change.

I recently seen the movie America: Freedom to Fascism and started doing my own research on the IRS. What I have found so far is that there is no way the income tax can be legal because it would violate the 5th amendment because I don't have to do anything that incriminates myself. Can anyone help? (If you are interested in seeing the movie, it is free on Google Video. Just type the name.)

Don't get me wrong. I'm glad that we have the military and I'm glad that we have people who are willing to serve. However, I can't imagine having to live such a regimented life and having someone scream orders to me. Any thoughts?

You all know how Germany has been a major problem in both World Wars? Well, we should let Germany fight Iraq for America under American control. You know Germany has a reputation of fighting.

Is she really a power hungry and driven individual or is she decent, honest and sincere about wanting to become the first female President of the United States of America/? What's your outlook on her politics? Or is she finishing what good old hubby Bill wasn't able to accomplish during his presidency?

Many people quote "scientific" fact for evolution, global warming, abortion, etc... But if the general public is unable to verify these results themselves, then in affect, isn't using secondary source (not you) "scientific evidence" to back up something you say simply an appeal to authority or an appeal to tradition? If "90%" of the world scientists say it's true, isn't this an appeal to the mass?

Someone said I was not a man of science because I did not believe something a scientist said. This seems contradictory, at least...

Hillary Clinton, John Edwards and Barack Obama have all agreed to appear at the first ever gay debate. The whole debate will only be for gay issues, like gay marriage and things like that. They're calling it the first ever all-musical presidential debate."

What you think?

A liberal web site by the name of Media Matters which was a big contributor to the firing of Imus is now going after another Radio Talk Show personality who opposes their view on Global Warming.

Glenn Beck had a CNN special on Global Warming with the disclaimer, "This is not a balanced look at global warming. It is the other side of the climate debate that you don't hear anywhere. Yes, Al Gore, there is another credible side."

Now, this is HIS show in which he should have the RIGHT within government regulations to show what he pleases. The special was done incredibly well sighting information by very reputable scientists and climatologists.

What is Media Matters so worried about? Why do they feel the need shut down any opposing view? Talk about trampling on the constitution and freedom of speech.

Wouldn't it be a good thing to look at ALL of the information out there?

What a joke. Taxing is one of the greatest ways to influence social policy. Plus, how many people would be put out of work?

Before I start, I'm an independent, formerly registered Democrat, and but now support the Conservatives. Big change, I know, but I like to consider myself as seeing the "light".

Anyway. Why can Americans enlist in the Military or be a Police Officer, but they cannot carry or transport a handgun until the age of 21?

I know police officers who cannot legally purchase recreational handgun ammo, due to the fact that they are not 21, and they must request it from the department.

Can anyone point me in the bill that was passed that made this such a ridiculous law? Who presented this idea? Etc.

Thanks!

I've been writing a blog for a while that combines images from Flickr which are licensed under creative commons (non-commercial) with select quotes. After several requests, I'm now considering turning it into a book of sorts, via Lulu.com.

Because of the license terms and spirit of what I'm doing, I'm not looking to make any money from this personally. However, it seems it could be a good opportunity to help a charity.

Would it be allowable under the terms of the creative commons license for me to charge say $1-2 extra on top of the cost from Lulu for printing/shipping, with the full extra amount going to a nominated charity?

On my last quesion, (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ApoAEhdabmC5ZMinbtTX1_DY7BR.?qid=20070716114156AAuvPin), Some people objected to Christians trying to tell them how to live their lives. Do you see any similarity to Liberals backing certain laws that impact the lives of others? Gun control of the law abiding citizen comes to mind, as an example of many.

Let me first state that I think the implication of the settlement is tragic. That professional clergy violating a position of such immense trust could be found guilty of such inhumane criminal behavior is beyond belief.

That said, I'm uncertain what to think of the $660M settlement to the 500+ victims of the criminal activity. I believe firmly that those who were responsible should be held accountable... via prison sentences. However, I fail to see how a monetary settlement helps the victims of violent crimes.

I've been waiting for the Iraqi govt to say please go now. I read in the paper that Malaki says we can leave any time we want. OK it's not please go now. But it's very close

I've been for our staying as long as we were wanted by the government of Iraq. And frankly I wish we could have done more for them. The Iraqis had to put up with Saddam for --way too long. They have indicated they think they can handle the job now. Should we get out of Dodge before they change their minds?
