Is it possible to give the welfare money only to those who NEED it? What can be done to prevent all the leeches from sucking the system dry? I want to live in a country where I can get help if I ever need it, not a country that lets people take advantage. Not only are they leeches, our tax dollars are paying them to stay that way, with no incentive to change.

i wasn't necessarily looking for immigration opinions. however, i have no problem with people coming to this country. why wouldn't they want to come? noone should be able to work in our country without paying taxes. period. no school, health care, welfare, bank accounts.

I did receive WIC while I was pregnant. What a great program. I cancelled it myself when I was able to go back to work. It was a good feeling.

I firmly believe that women on welfare should be required to have the shots or the subdermal form of birth control to receive benefits and they miss a shot then they get nothing. The amount of time you spend on welfare should have a limit. I believe that we should tap into all resources to make dead beat dads pay child support and proved health insurance to decrease the drain in the system. I also believe we need field agents to verify the inofrmation being provided to gain benefits. I know of women who have lied on their application saying that the kids dad is not in the household, but that was not true they lied to get the benefits. There are many programs available to help women get off welfare and they are not used because it is easier to stay in the system. I applied for wic when I was pregnant with my second child and we made $200 too much a month before taxes. It is sad that the benefits are not available to those that need because so many others abuse the system. This applies to Social Security as well. I know that by the time I am old enough to collect SSI it will be gone.

Make a list of all their names and addresses, and turn it into your local police department. There are extremely stiff sentances for people that steal from the taxpayers.
I was surprised too until I saw a segment on Court TV about the ones that are in jail for it.
Oh by the way have you ever heard of "corporate welfare?" Where the top 500 corporations never ever pay a penny in income taxes but DO receive tax refunds from Uncle Sam? That's why they are called fortune 500's.
But really make a list today, it will make you feel alot beter i'm sure. It's the patriotoic thing to do.

Make a catalogue of all their names and addresses, and turn it into your close by police branch. There are quite stiff sentances for people who scouse borrow from the taxpayers. i became shocked too until I observed slightly on courtroom television approximately those that are in penal complex for it. Oh by the way have you ever heard of "company welfare?" the place the right 500 companies in no way ever pay a penny in income taxes yet DO acquire tax refunds from Uncle Sam? it is why they're called fortune 500's. yet incredibly make a catalogue at present, it's going to make you experience alot beter i'm particular. this is the patriotoic factor of do.

It's sickening isn't it? I think this place here is the home for that type of behavior for government subsidies. It pisses me off to no end. And i'm the bad guy. LOL. OOOK. They don't want to truly make it better either around here. I believe if that happened they fear losing their handouts. Granted some ppl really need it, but it seems they want you to be a part of that. I guess in their warped sense of thinking(mentality if you want to call it that) that if you can make it on your own, then they really don't want you around. I know it sounds weird, but its true. And god forbid if you are intelligent and a hard worker. That'll really get you screwed in this area. Oh and the right last name helps as well, along with the good ole boy network. It's all a bunch of bullshit.

The answer to this problem, as well as many of the domestic problems in our bureaucratic system, is to get out of Iraq and direct our funding to resolving our own problems. There is not enough funds, resources, and staff for the government to police welfare fraud better than it does. There is not enough funds, resources, and staff for them to manage child welfare, the foster care system, education, poverty, and gang violence, either. Fixing these problems takes time and money. America is not willing to pay more taxes, but that money has to come from somewhere. Spending billions of dollars on a foolish war is not helping us come up with the money to take care of this system, or any other problems we have. Truth be told, in the overall scheme of things, welfare fraud is the least of our worries.

Ending welfare is the only way to make it a good system. Help will still be available, there are THOUSANDS of private organizations out there willing to help (Red Cross, Salvation Army, United Way, Shriners, tens of thousands of churches, temples, mosques, etc., etc.).
There is no NEED for a government run system. The private sector is more than able to handle the truly needy. Government systems only exist to give power to power-hungry politicians that use it to buy votes.

Simple, get rid of it. The taxes used to support such funds are what are crippling people financially in the first place.
Not to mention these leeches know how to file out paper work properly because they constantly deal with it and the poor shmuck who gets fired and down on their luck gets nothing when having to figure out the system works. The system rewards those who know how it works, not who needs it.
