I've been waiting for the Iraqi govt to say please go now. I read in the paper that Malaki says we can leave any time we want. OK it's not please go now. But it's very close

I've been for our staying as long as we were wanted by the government of Iraq. And frankly I wish we could have done more for them. The Iraqis had to put up with Saddam for --way too long. They have indicated they think they can handle the job now. Should we get out of Dodge before they change their minds?

I sympathize with the poor position the Iraqis have been placed.

On one hand, we have broken Iraq, as it were. We made some poor decisions in the beginning and have yet repair the damage those decisions have done. On the other hand, we've given them support and time to organize themselves and begin the task of establishing authority so that they can do the real work of government - governing. They have been unsuccessful and asked for more time, after all, the predicament they are in is largely due to our mistakes. On top of all this, now it's become clear the American public is tiring of this conflict and looking for a way out. They are wise enough to read the writing on the wall and now must convince the Iraqis around the country that they can still succeed without the US.

Personally, I don't think we should leave. If we do, we can add Iraq to the growing list of places that harbor resentment towards the US. The Iraqis like us just fine. Now. If we pull out and allow their already war-torn country to endure a regional power-struggle with Iran as the big-dog, we'll hear about for decades to come.

Will Iraq actually be able to stand up on it's own? Who knows... Iran would like nothing more than for the US to leave. They would have Iraq all to themselves. Most of Iraq is Shia and that suits the Iranians just fine. Iraq as a buffer state has been an Iranian strategy since the early 90s. Who would've thought the US would hand it to them on silver platter?

Time will tell..

if they said go then we should go...

what a missed opportunity to have changed the world for the best but we wasted lives, money, and made the poor poorer and the rich richer in the process....sad.

or we could stay, send another 700,000 troops, re-instate the drat, pump about $5,000,000,000,000,000 into the country and rebuild it totally with help from all the G8 nations and do it right like we should have from the beginning at a fraction of that cost. That is what it would take to do it right and I don't think that idea stands a snowball chance in Iraq so I guess we should pack it up and say we won and go home and let them sort it out and start focusing on improving things in the USA and world instead of messing them up!

I think we should leave as soon as possible, And let the poor people run their country, there is no need to stay. If we aren't helping them.
I didn't make the decision to go over there and I cant make the decision to leave. and that will have to be made, by all of the government .
We voted them in, they have to do their job. And if every one went to the poles and voted, It would make a different. If you didn't vote ,then you shouldn't complain.

Remember the Iran Iraq Syria summit talks a month ago.

Maliki was laughing at the US saying "they want our oil we can get them to give us anything we need"

For the price of the Iraq war we could have given everyone a car that runs on water.
