Of course I can.. Let's see now.
Fairness Doctrine
Gun Control (probably banning them)
Controlling our schools (indoctrination)
PC
And heaven only knows what else? I imagine anything that's for 'the public good'... ARGH!

There are instances on both sides of one group dictating to the masses, whether it's a ban on hand held cell phones while driving, global warming, abortion on either side of the debate or Terry Schiavo. Liberals deciding that things must be done one way and Christians deciding to do things a different way. Neither has the high ground here. In fact both can be fairly dangerous if left unchecked.
Personally, I feel the question is inaccurate because I know some fairly liberal people who go to church so the two terms are not mutually exclusive.

The major problem with the people of this country is that everyone is trying to regulate and control everyone else. Every political, religious, lobbyist, company or person has an agenda that they want or feel the need to push on someone else. Our forefathers did not create this great country in order for us to split hairs on the constitution and who has what right and who does not. This country was formed for the religious freedom and to get out from under a government that we are now living under with respect to overkill of laws on the people of the land. No matter what political view is in office. It is "We the people" not the democrats, republican, Christians, or any other group.
We are allowed to voice our opinion, and common sense and consensus should prevail, but when you get fellow Americans in place of power (all the way from the White House to the Mayor's office) that can't decide what shoe to tie first without a consensus from others then the true form of American government is lost. We need leaders in this country not a band wangon jumper.
God Bless America!!!!!!! WE NEED IT!!!!

I think that every law, whether supported by a liberal or a conservative, requires all citizens to do or not to do something. So to say that liberals tell people what to do in some circumstances is true, but it's true for all laws. I am convinced this fact is why Christians have become so politically active recently. If Christians can not convince American citizens to live a Christian life style, then they try to enact laws to require it. Because many churches have become political action committees trying to get their Christian agendas into law, citizens are beginning to cry foul when the same church PAC's get tax advantages. If you are a church then act like one, and if you are a PAC then act like one too.

Doesn't really matter which side of the aisle you're on -- most people don't like others telling them what to do. What you have on the liberal side, however, is a large group of people who are laboring under the totally wrong idea that our Constitution gives Americans the right to do whatever they want, whenever they want, wherever they want, and to whomever they want. That is, of course, until they get a bee in their bonnets about something like gun control or forced redistribution of wealth to punish the rich. It shows a similarity between the liberals and those who profess to be Christians but don't abide by the Bible -- the attitude of "Do as I say, not as I do."

Inherent to liberalism is rational thought. If, as a society, gun ownership is harmful, which statistically it appears to be, then my personal liberty is improved with the enacting and enforcement of gun control laws.
The only reason liberals talk about gun control is the implication in the statistics that personal freedom will actually increase with some kind of control enforced.
At the moment in the US the vast majority of guns are owned legally by law abiding people, however, 10,000-15,000 people are killed each year, and 40,000, mostly below 18 years of age, are seriously injured.
Can these 50,000 lives each year be improved by gun control?

That's a bit of a stretch, Jeff.
As regards gun control, I don't care if you wanna go out and buy the biggest ordnance you can fit through the front door. Whatever makes you feel safer, bud.
But as citizens, we all aquiesce to a number of laws and regulations, meant to insure our safety and well being.
We all like the idea of regulations that control the quality and safety of our food and drugs, not to mention our vehicles and other hard manufactured goods, but oh, God forbid we should have some responsible registration regarding firearms, eh?
Nobody's trying to take your Glock away, Jeff. Let's just have some responsible control over objects whose main purpose is to kill.

Liberals think that atheists, Buddists, and Islamic world-haters are the moral equivilant to christians. The libs that claim to be christian need to remember the saying of Christ:
No man comes to the Father except by me.
The guy above that referenced China should know that China is filling up with "house churches", like the first century Roman Empire...that wonderful story continues even today.

Gun control? You're comparing this to the constant legislation of morality? Trying to put laws thru as to what a human is allowed to do or not to do with their bodies and mind. Not comparable.
Oh and I don't believe in gun control.

Christianity is neither left or right, republician or democrat. Christ taught love, tolerance, self sacrifice and purity. I think both parties are equally ungodly, one panders to the moral issues and really has an agenda of the rich while the other is ungodly on moral issues but cares for and looks after people.

What liberals don't like is when others try to dictate how they live their lives when what they do does not affect anyone else in any way. Gun ownership can certainly affect others, considering how many victims of gun violence there are each year in this nation (Yes, there are many victims of legal guns as well).
I'm also a little curious, since it seems to be what guides your views, as you think it's so important. Which side of the gun control debate do you think Jesus would be on?
