Yes. There are no such thing as promises and he should know this already. We all signed up to do a job. He is doing his job and getting paid to do it. I have never heard about the Promise Department before.

Promises in the military should always be taken with a grain of salt. However, they are doing thier best to try and give soldiers at least a year back in the states before deploying them again. Many bases have moved to a system with planned rotations on a yearly basis, so not only does someone know when they will be home but when they will be due to deploy again. Even with all the planning though, it is impossible for any promise to be "set in stone". Most likely, he will get to stay with you, but there is never a garuntee.

Unfortunately, while the military tries to keep to their time frames for deployments, things happen. They want to be able to let the guys have a rest, but the needs of the military come first.
I've known many guys that, due to needs, have been deployed more than they should have. It stinks, but it happens! They needed bodies in that career field and so they got sent.
Also, there are guys who will tell their gf/wife that they are being made to go, when in fact they have volunteered to go! We've dealt with many of those! I get the phone calls from the spouses, complaining about how hubby is being sent again and how horrible my hubby and the others are. Then when I talk to hubby and the other flight chiefs, come to find out they volunteered!

Yes they can make him go back anyways. What many people do't stop tp think is that jobs are more needed in Iraq. They need more infantry and mp's more than they need clerks and finance people. Some people may never go and some people may go several times. His job can be what is causing him to bo back more often. God bless him and keep him safe and God bless you for sticking with him thru deployment. It is tough to be the one back home.

If W wants him to go back he'll go back. I hope your boyfriend remains safe during his tour.

Support the soldiers even if you don't support the war.
