So many seemingly intelligent and articulate people talk about a war in Iraq like its actually happening right now.

But the hard facts and evidence agree that the war ended in 2003, and we are now in a stabalisation and peacekeeping roll out there.

Or are you going to spout some conspiracist theory telling me that the media covered it all up, and the war is still being waged in secret?

Looking for some real answers other than simple one-liners, such as "Becuause he's an idiot", or "Becuase all the politicians are greedy SOB's.".

If some of you have some legitimate answers relating to the intricacies of the foreign policy, or the specifics of the events, let's hear it and enlighten the rest of the Yahoo7 crowd.

I recently quit my job ( a month ago) and now my boss refuses to return my personal property. These are things i owned (books, etc) prior to being employed with this company. He does not answer emails nor returns phone calls.

Does he have the right to hold on to my property? Is he breaking the law? Can I involve the police? What are my options. I live in Texas, if that is any help.

I dont owe him any money, and he has sent my final paycheck.

Why do so many political journalist add their opinions to subjects they're reporting. Wouldn't you rather hear news from a un-biased spokesman who strictly reports facts.

Is there anything on line that I can fill out that I can use to state who gets my stuff if I should die? Also what my wishes would be if I were in a vegetative state, and about organ donation, cremation wishes, etc? I want to do something more formal than just writing it all out, but not through a lawyer or anything. Preferably free. Any good resources?

The only reason is that we have spineless politicians on both sides that are paid for by US corporations.

People, the United States of America defeated the imperialist Japanese and Nazi Germany at the same time. We've put a man on the moon and cured many of the world's worst diseases. Don't tell me we can't get rid of those law breakers who are stealing American jobs and keeping wages low.

Keep contacting those worthless politicians who support amnesty and not our laws.

Let's get the facts straight on Mormonism: There are only 3 churches in America with more members (Roman Catholic, Southern Baptist, and United Methodist). If we question whether a Mormon should be president, we never allow a Lutheran, Presbyterian, Assembly of God, or Episcopalian to be president, since those churches are all smaller, right? Mormons believe in Jesus Christ, the Bible, being faithful to ONE spouse (no, they don't practice polygamy), charity, honesty, obeying the law, not swearing, not using addictive substances (alcohol, tobacco, coffee, etc), and are generally some of the most wholesome members of society. Mormons have served as upstanding governors, senators, and cabinet members for nearly 200 years. I think Romney being a mormon is a reason TO vote for him, not to vote AGAINST him. The fact that he adheres to a religion with such high standards is very commendable! Ask almost anyone what religion (if any) the other presidential candidates belong to and no one knows.

Is it because when people are listening to the radio they are usually stuck in traffic and actually hear the crap that these loonies are trying to come up with ?
Liberals have the newspapers, the colleges, cnn, abc, nbc , mtv, you name it and they have their noses in it.Plus NPR which I have to help pay for . So we have am radio and fox news channel.
What is to complain about? And if you actually had something that people are interested in listening to then obviously they would get ratings. So because you suck on radio we have to feel bad about that?
Liberals are like little kids who want to scream about free choice for everyone but if you are not tuned into what they want you to hear or watch all of a sudden it's wrong. And I swear the guys are biggest wienies...try growing a set.

Democracts wanted the war in Iraqm they all voted for it- so why do they constantly blame Bush when things go wrong? The Democrats are the ones that dragged American into war, NOT the Rupublicans....

When the second largest single voting block for your political party consists of people who believe in magic (creationism), do not accept that all men are created equal (pro-segregation, pro-racism), do not believe in freedom of religion (Christian evangelicals only acknowledge the beliefs of those warped little provincials that share their values), do not believe in freedom of choice (abortion), freedom of speech (again, unless the person speaking shares their views), freedom of assembly (which is why they hate liberal protester-types) or freedom of thought (which is why they routinely hold book burning parties in places like Springfield, Missouri)...

How can people, in right mind and good conscience, even entertain the thought of supporting a republican agenda?

Remember when America was the country that every other country wanted to be like?

Remember when torture and making people disappear were things that we looked down on as a country, because we had the moral high ground?

Remember when America's intelligence agencies were busier protecting her citizens than monitoring them?

Remember when we had a president who spoke out of knowledge, who you knew actually spent time learning about the tasks at hand?

Remember when racism and sexism were things to be despised and those who reveled in them were marginalized?

Remember when this country went to war as a last resort, to defend ourselves or our allies?

Remember when those who thought dissenters "traitors" were themselves thought lower than fools?

Remember when discussion about politics didn't end with a statement of political or ideological affiliation?

What happened? How do we get back to that America?
Don't you miss her?

The Office of Vice President Dick Cheney proposed to abolish the Information Security Oversight Office (ISOO), the executive branch organization that oversees the national security classification system, after its Director insisted that the Vice President comply with reporting requirements that apply to all executive branch entities.

Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA), the chairman of the House Oversight Committee who revealed the move today, said in a letter to the Vice President (pdf) that it "could be construed as retaliation" against ISOO.

Is this a knee-jerk response to:
The Office of Vice President Dick Cheney told an agency within the National Archives that for purposes of securing classified information, the Vice President's office is not an 'entity within the executive branch' according to a letter released Thursday by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

It would make the enemy more interested in sex than fighting. Air Force's Wright Laboratory in Dayton, OH asked for $7.5 million to develop such a non-lethal chemical weapon. It would contain a hormone that could purportedly turn enemy soldiers into homosexuals. This bomb was proposed in 1994 and dismissed. There's no bomb in production (unless Area 51 is working on one). Had you heard about this back in 1994 and wasn't it very offensive to many people? The government probably should have developed one and used it on the terrorists of the world. The wars would be a thing of the past, in time. What do you think?

One week ago, my ex boyfriend was hitting me as he has done for 8 years. He was trying to strangle me when I bit his arm. I got away and called the police. Well, they came and since my bruises had not shown up yet and he had a bite mark on his, I was arrested for domestic battery. I now have a no contact order from the judge. He is living in my home that I own myself. The house has been in my family for 50 years. I have no money and no job( he wouldn't let me work). I need to evict him legally. I can't just go throw him out because of the no contact order. I have tried to make him leave before. Once he threw me through the sliding glass doors. Another time he smashed a brick into my face leaving me permanently disfigured. I can no longer take this. I need him out before he destroys my family home. Also, all the utilities are in my name. Is it legal to have them turned off?

• Trial lawyer: Before Thompson won his Senate seat, published reports said his private law practice handled personal injury cases and defended people accused of white-collar crimes. And in the Senate, he opposed some legislation intended to rein in escalating jury verdicts and attorneys' fees.
• Lobbyist: Thompson made nearly $1.3 million over about two decades of lobbying both before and after his eight-year Senate stint, according to government documents and media accounts from his successful run for the Senate in 1994.
• Abortion-rights supporter: Every time Thompson got the chance in the Senate, he voted with those who oppose abortion rights. But the social conservatives for whom abortion is a litmus test scrutinize every bit of a politician's record — and Thompson's provides some fodder for opponents to question the depth of his opposition to abortion rights.

So it's alright for the government to intrude on our private lives with things like who we can marry, abortion, the Patriot Act, and where we can practice dissent (protest zones); but when the government intrudes on us to help the elderly and the least among us with things like health care, welfare and other social programs, that's not OK??

I know that most of the ads in my newspaper are English. But there is one that sticks out from the rst. It is for a in home care service. It seems that every other day they change from English one day to Spanish the next.

my father says they do it becuase my area has a lot of illegals here and to appeal to them. is he right? Does this mean one day I'll be reading the paper and will the same ad in both English and Spanish in the same paper for exact same business? How bad of a problem is this in the bigger cities of our nation? Or are people not noticing it becuase it's subtle?
