No, not as long as your car is reported stolen. It's pretty common that people aren't aware of who stole their cars when they get stolen. You need to at least file a police report, though, so that they know this prior to any sort of accidents.

Was the car reported stolen? If not and they find out it was a friend of yours, the question will be was it called stolen because????? Sorry it was the way you posed your question, and if I questioned it so will the police, and the insurance company.

no but your insurance will be. if you don't have insurance? better get a lawyer. someone will come after you for something at some point. CYA is the best option.
