Would you rather live in a country where everything is open source and for everybody, and have no rules or regualations (or safety), or would you rather live in a country where trade, commerce and law are strictly controlled, and have no freedom? This is something my housemate is considering; he is fit and has integrity so I have no doubt he can become a Marine (his wish) but he tells us that he only wants to do it to get trained and serve the minimum before trying life as a mercenary (influenced purely by Hollywood).

We all think this is stupid and dangerous but he won't listen to us- can anyone with military experience please help us bring the guy down to earth?

Yes, they need to learn English...BUT, does anyone know how hard it is to learn a language over night? It seems to me that is what everyone wants. Americans just want all spanish people to be able to speak English overnight and that is ridiculous. English is one of the HARDEST languages to learn and it can take years and years and years to master. And I hear all the time everyone arguing that illegals "demanded" that we accomodate their language but I've never seen a spanish person demand for us to learn their language. In fact it seems to me that our country made the CHOICE to accommodate those that spoke spanish willingly. Any time a government sees the potential to make more money from a group of people, they go out of their way to make it happen. Which OUR government did...

The point is, if they are attempting to learn English or TRYING in any way, then they are doing what they need to do.

When Monica Goodling testified last week, she revealed something that hasn't gotten much attention but should. She admitted that Rove's #1 man, Tim Griffin, was engaged in vote caging in the 2004 election.
Vote caging has been illegal since 1986, when the Republicans were caught in the act. They tried to have 31,000 voters, most of them black, taken from the rolls
in Louisana. Vote caging consists of a variety of methods of ensuring that large numbers of citizens can't vote.
One of the methods the Republicans have used is to send out mass mailers of registered mail to minority neighborhoods, poor areas, or to black members of
the military. When these persons go to vote, they are challenged. It is up to them, sometimes at considerable expense, to prove they qualify to vote. Some are given a
provisional ballot which are usually not counted. The provisional voes in Florida 6 years ago still haven't been counted. Absentee ballots submitted by the military are also challenged.

My grampa was in WWII in 1941 and when the american army took over the international building in Germany my grampa took the flag that was hanging on the side of the building. He passed it on to my dad and now my dad has it and he locks it in his safe.
Its a 11ft wide, and 56in tall red flag with a swastika in the middle and we kinda wanna sell it because my mom and dad are in the middle of a divorice and we are short on money. We cannot find anyone on ebay who has anything similar to it and we are trying to find a person who can tell us about how much its worth. Can someone help? The flag is in almost perfect condition except 3 tiny bullet holes at the top but its from WWII and if its over $10,000 then we might consider selling it.

Looking at the Usa and britains record on crime, youth crime, gun culture, underage sex, teenage pregnancies, divorce rates, single parents, muggings, violence, etc etc etc, How can these two countries inply they are going to make other countries better?? when they themselves are in need of it..
