Not about to compare Iraq w/Vietnam; whether +50,000, or +3,000 makes no difference at this juncture.

There's no war on terror. Very siccinctly this is no less than human sacrifice. The Bush game.Numbers, not names.

May is 3rd-deadliest month for troops in Iraq The Associated Press

BAGHDAD — May is not yet over, and already it has recorded the third-highest monthly death toll for American forces in Iraq since the war began four years ago.

The military announced that 10 soldiers were killed in roadside bombings and a helicopter crash on Memorial Day. As of late Tuesday, there were at least 113 U.S. deaths in Iraq so far in May.
.
The U.S. military has said soldiers could face higher chances of ambush and capture under a new strategy to shift troops into smaller outposts — part of plans to seek more outreach with Iraqi civilians and possible tips on militant activities.

Our "heroes?"
Humm
None ever came back to confirm they were GLAD to have died as "heroes".

Earlier, I asked why Europeans are so down on Americans and one "Chap" said that we are to blame for high gas prices around the world because we started the war in Iraq. Then why were global gas prices much lower during most of our visit to Iraq? And why do analysts say gas prices are based on demand? And why don't we just investigate the possibility that Opec is raising prices now, because they see the carmakers making cars that will require little or no gasoline in the future? That said, why do you Europeans blame us for high gas prices?

Ok, there are a lot of anti-Bush comments on this board & I think I know why. It may have something to do with the fact that the man is currently the acting commander in chief of the U.S. His policies & decisions effect all of our lives. This warrents a great deal of public opinion.
Bubba Clinton's presidency ended almost seven years ago(1993-2001). This to me is ancient history. I see no relevence in bringing it up. You may as well be referenceing Grover Cleaveland or Kennedy or Carter. It's just not an effective argument. I don't believe there are that many hard core Clinton fans out there who are going to take offense to Clinton bashing. This is NOT an attempt to defend BC. I personally never cared for the man. I wouldn't pizz on him if he was on fire. He's just another worthless career politicion & deserves all the ridicule you Bush lovin' Neo-cons can sling.
Seems to me that many Y!A readers want to defend cool 'ol W, but you seem to be dodging the Q's. Well, are U?

Two days ago, I bit into a hard object in a bowl of sugary cereal. The object was harder than my tooth, and has caused a 2-day long toothache. I contacted the parent company by email, and was contacted by phone today. After being asked a few questions, they informed me they were sending a "packet" to me, and request I send the object to them (they surmised it was a caramalized piece of sugar, saying measures were in place to prevent this) and also said there would be coupons for company products in it. Should I expect the company to have some liability for this? I have never sued anyone in my life, but this has legitimately caused quite a bit of pain and concern on my part, and I am leery about sending the object to them and using the coupons. I do not know if it cracked my tooth or not, it felt like I bit into a rock. They obviously had some concern for their liability; they asked if anyone else was eating with me, etc. Should I just use the coupons and hope the toothache goes away?

My husband is age 33 and was in ROTC in 1995, given a full-ride scholarship and ultimately turned it down. He is now thinking of enlisting again. We have four children under age five and I want to know if he were to enlist, what are his chances of being sent to Iraq? He thinks he wouldn't be sent, but I have my doubts. Once you sign, you are theirs to do with what they please, right?

Thanks!

I would agree that we have made necessary progress in many areas such as race relations etc but surely even liberals have to admit that generally people were more civil and courteous to each other in the 50s.

Also, I agree that it is important for some films to be realistic and project social comment, but was it such a bad thing when most Hollywood films were uplifting and had a positive message (ie not just those marketed as ‘family’ films today)?

Wouldn’t we a better society if we had kept some of the civility but gained tolerance?
