Let me give you more background: I have three Hispanic sons, I am not racist. I love the mexican people, but I love my country too and want them to assimilate, just like my family. What I am referring to in "pushing us out" is due to the racist hispanics that are here that think because I am all for the immigrants following the rules of this country that I am racist and so they treat anyone of another color badly to the point of harming my family-- many won't assimilate and want to make this Mexico. United we stand and divided we will certainly fall. No more tirades, just answer the questions, please. Tell me how it will affect you.

No I won't be pushed to do anything. IF it comes down to being forced to leave, Alaska looks pretty good.

you're assuming that it will pass. what do you base that on? Well, on to the question.

1. No, I do not feel that people will be pushed out of California because amnesty or not people need to be able to afford to live here and that will not be any easier with amnesty. Yes, you may get some more immigration but ultimately the economics of the situation will determine what happens.

2. see #1, I'm not going any where.

Although you didn't ask, I am going to give you my opinion on amnesty. Every country has immigration laws. People are punished for violations of those laws. Some countries have more strict regulations than ours. In some countries you need to prove what working skills you have that will make you an asset to have in the country. Why should we just give amnesty to law breakers? What message does that send? If the majority of citizens feel that our immigration laws are wrong then we should use the political process to change them.

I think it is pretty simple. If they will grant amnesty to all illegals then one thing for sure will change - job market. People who are in this country illegally drive the wages down now, imagine what will happen when they won't have to hide anymore. They will aim will start to aim at good jobs... And because of lack of experience they will work for much less then others. So, what will most likely happen is that you will have to move somewhere else for a better pay. Places crowded with illegals will suffer first. Of course all that won't happen over night, but maybe in a 5-6 years we might start to see changes.... Hopefuly, I am wrong on this one...

Agree with midcenturydesigner's comment, although I've seen a few people from texas complaining about how they have to learn spanish becuase no one speaks english. I think it's a bunch of bull though...
I'm not leaving California, I don't have a problem with mexicans living next to me......they already do anyway... plus if they get legalized, they're going to go where it's cheaper to buy a house...it's only the smart thing to do!

Not immediately, no.

1. I live in northern CA, and the effects are muted here compared to, say LA.

2. Probably Oregon.

Nope, I dont' think so at all. This legalization and path to citizenship bill (not an amnesty) simply states that all of the current workers here can apply to continue working temporarily, and that they can return to their home country to pay fines and apply for permanent residency. This doesn't increase the number of people living in California. I personally have no problem living and interacting with Mexicans and OTM's, so I don't have any personal reason to leave. I suppose if I were a racist, and I wanted all of the enslaved illegals to hide in the shadows, and I couldn't handle it when they began to be treated like other tax-paying U.S. workers, then I would be upset. But that's not my bag.

No one will be forced out. Nothing will change. There will be a larger work pool, which will fill the jobs that are not being filled. This will create more tax dollars for projects. In addition, the extra working people will put more into the local economy and further encourage growth.

I will not go anywere. I own a home there. I will still come and stay when I decide to come to Cali.

No. I'm going to love it. My mom especially. She's a principal of a high school here in San Jose, and the undocumented families she teaches will finally HAVE THE ABILITY to pay taxes. She won't have to worry about discrimination against her students or parents afraid to get too involved in the community. I'm going to like it. I'm a gringo that has learned spanish to a fluency that catches the Mexicans off-guard everytime. I can't wait for my 300,000 hispanic friends here in Sanjo to have a stronger, not worrying about deportation and all the crap that makes their life bad.

Looking at the answers here, it seems like the racists of this category aren't from California--one of the onl 4 states where illegal immigration actually has a real impact.....hmmmmm.

WHEN it passes? I doubt it will in its present form. The Senate may give us crap but the House won't allow it to pass - they are afraid of loosing their jobs if they vote for amnesty!

So, since your question is moot - I'm not leaving! California is my home!!!

EDIT: Hey, "erasan" & "qwyrx" IT'S AMNESTY!!! The idiot polititions (e.g., Boxer, "Feinswine," McCain, Kennedy, Kyl, etc....) claim it's not but it is!!!!

Yeah right. All those people are already here. I have yet to be displaced! Besides, where I live the rent is insane! I don't know if they'd be able to afford it?
