Now its "Climate Change. " Who would have guessed the climate could change?

When they realize how stupid that one is, what do you think the will call it next? Weather, maybe?

Carrying a cell phone in a Maryland public school can face charges of up to a 2,500 dollar fine, in a private school it is the same, but in a private school you have to have it turned off in your bookbag, in a public school, no cell phones period, no matter who you are. Another punishment to having a cell phone in a maryland public school can get you 6 weeks in prison, on your second offense. Is this fair ? If you are above 21 dont answer I need a teens opinion!

Visually and aesthetically, 300 is an impressive movie. Unfortunately, it is also a jingoistic bastardization of history that, intended or not, reinforces our cultural prejudices against Iran and the Middle East.

“The film 300 is a work of fiction inspired by the Frank Miller graphic novel and loosely based on an historical event."

Ah, so that makes it all right, does it? Miller and Warner Brothers invoke the “it’s just entertainment” defence and we’re supposed to excuse deliberate inaccuracies?! If that holds for moviemakers, perhaps it should also hold elsewhere:

• “Excuse me, your honour, I did not commit perjury. I just meant to entertain the jury.”

• “I did not lie to Congress about uranium shipments to Iraq. I merely reimagined facts to fit my vision of what I wanted to happen.”

I see people accuse moderates of "sitting on the fence" , "unable to make a decision" or "cant choose between right and wrong". But yet these are the same people who say that the world isnt in black n white. Isnt it moderates who see more gray?

Just wondering how hard you find it being away from your family when on deployment.

I know I would find it really hard. I was in jail for 6 months and looking forward to visits keeps you going - even if they are behind glass.

My first kid was born when I was in jail and I couldn't get out for that and found that really hard. There must be births, marriages and deaths while you're on service.

It must be hard to miss out on all of that.

Let's face it if an over-zealous fan were to hurt Sanjaya I wonder if Howard Stern could be sued for damages. I mean seriously, He started this. An example of what I am talking about would be yelling fire in a theatre. That I know for sure is illegal in all states.

Freedom from fear;
Conservatives gain freedom from fear by the existence of a strong authority, be that a military or police force through government, or a ruling deity as in religion. Any attacks against these authorities are seen as a threat to their freedom from fear.
Liberals see a strong authority as a threat to their personal liberties or a possible oppressive force. The means by which conservatives gain freedom from fear actually creates fear among liberals.
Whenever fear presents itself to either side all logic evaporates.
Is there a middle ground where the freedom from fear can exist for all people? Or, will there be a constant ebb and flow in the attempt to acheive this freedom?

Poster Edward made a comment that really points to a huge difference in the 2 main political views: As much as I hated Bill Clinton's politics and his character, I would have never imagined wishing him dead.

Yet how many times do we hear Americans wishing President Bush dead? And making threats to kill him!

far left, far right?... then there are the middle people that say, can't we all get along?
Through struggle there is growth.. I rail against the neoconservative bias that I see everywhere in our society, because it's "Evil"..but the people in the middle dilute the conversation with their fear of either side..
if there is a "Liberal" element in our society it is them..
if something is wrong.. it;s wrong.
Violence, greed, wanton waste, religious intolerance..all manifestations of a reckless right wing, this needs to be corrected else we turn into the new Nazi nation that the neocons are working so hard for.
don't you middle people realize that you allow them to further their objectives with your squeamishness?
history is littered with this kind of thinking..

I don't know what I can do here. Last night, my boyfriends ex-wife's new boyfriend tried to run us off the road and kill us. He chased us for what seemed like an hour, but was really only a few minutes. But we were going about 70 MPH to get away from him and he kept trying to get in front then cut us off and ram us into the ditch. I was on the phone to 911 when it was going on and we finally lost him and got a cop to talk to us. They went to talk to him and then came back and said he didn't think we could take action. We then went to the magistrate's office to take out a warrant and he said that we should not have even been in that area of town so he wouldn't do anything either. How can a man try to run us off the road at high speed 5 times and not get punished? After I have talked to the cops and the magistrate and no one will help me, what else can I do? This guy knows where I live and is obviously crazy. Help me please.

yesterday i saw my next door neighbour talking to a bunch of teen lads who were being very rude to her and she was really calm with them.

she told me that for the last 3 years shes had a problem with these lads kicking the ball over in her garden and them constantly going roung asking her for the ball. if she isnt in they'll climb her fence to get it.

shes fed up with the ball going over as there are 3 playing fields down the road. the lads are aged between 16-19, so they can obviously go there and play instead of winding up the neighbours. there are about 10 of these lads.

last week a ball went over my garden and it bounced off my patio doors- which i thought by the sound that it broke the window. luckily the glass was ok but my 11month old daughter was behine the glass and was scared.

i never gave them the ball back as i though it was out of order and shouldne be playing on a busy coulde-sac.

what can my neighbour do about the ball going over thats legal.
