Carrying a cell phone in a Maryland public school can face charges of up to a 2,500 dollar fine, in a private school it is the same, but in a private school you have to have it turned off in your bookbag, in a public school, no cell phones period, no matter who you are. Another punishment to having a cell phone in a maryland public school can get you 6 weeks in prison, on your second offense. Is this fair ? If you are above 21 dont answer I need a teens opinion!

I guess the only reason they have those laws is that cell phones have been abused. Like people distracting other people by txting in class, or the phones going off in class, etc. I'm 18 and it would be majorly irritating to have to leave my cell phone in the car, but I don't know what kind of stuff took place to get that law into effect. What on earth did y'all do?

Not only are they banning them because of distractions etc but also because of the large volume of drug dealers etc in Maryland schools. However there is many latch key kids and kids who for many reasons need a cell phone. I feel that they should at least be allowed to have a cellular telephone in their locker or back pack turned off during school hours. I think the idea of this law needs reform. I think they should be banned in all schools, how can students learn anything when cell phones are constantly beeping and the students are constantly looking at that phone, I also think they should ban them while driving cars. I get so aggravated seeing people with a cell phone constantly stuck to the side of their face
