Not an addict, because addiction is a sign of weakness, but I would not have any problems taking advice or inspiration from someone who takes drugs provided they remained objective and did not discriminate against people. In fact Bill Hicks experimented with a variety of drugs and I view him as one of the most admirable and honest people who ever walked this planet.

Maybe. There are some pretty decent drug addicts out there. Most have been dealt a hard blow by life and took drugs as a means of escape. Not wise but that doesn't mean they don't have anything to offer the world. Being a drug addict is more than a mind thing. The physiological aspects of addiction cannot be neglected. What may cause one person to become addicted may not even cause a dent in another person's body. It has a lot to do with heredity and the strength of our body.

I think in higher level jobs mandated testing/monitoring may be appropriate.
