I have always thought the veto power of the few nations undermined the intended democratic nature of the United Nations. Since the UN's inception, the all-powerful Security Council has been a ideological battleground for (chiefly) USA VS USSR political conflict. This infected virtually every general assembly-democratically-enacted attempt by other member states to provide aid, reasonable intervention, justice, human rights or any UNITED efforts to solve whatever problems plagued member states, be they natural disaster, internal discord, international conflict (war), epidemic disease etc.... For example the UN has, for decades, by democratic vote condemned Israel many times and the USA, virtually alone by Israel, has vetoed every such legislation. I believe that abolishing the Security Council and veto power of the few would revolutionize the UN over-night and it would become truly united, effective and democratic.

My husband and I have had our grandson since he was two weeks old. He is now 18 months old. His mother has not even tried to come and see him. She states that she is too busy. However, she has been telling everyone she runs into that her son is handicapped without knowing anything about her son. I want to know what I can do to protect my grandson from her, without taking full custody away from my son. I do want to take her parental rights away, due to her lack of care.

Why should we rescue your sailors? Is their army not good enough?
We're not Brits, and we have nothing to do with the UK.

You may be our best allies, but if the men of UK are in trouble, it is UK's responsibility to save them, not USA's.

It's pretty simple.

One day it had rained and I had came from my cousin house the back way and I was coming down this little hill and there was a car was in front of me. It was night time and it had pressed on brakes and pulled to the side. So I slowed down cause I thought he was going to turn but he pulled over. As soon as i past him to go around this curve. I found out it was a State Trooper and he pulled me over. He told me that he clocked me coming down the hill going 70 or 71mph but i was going 60mph but what got me was that he said that i slowed down because i know it was him in front of me. But that was impossible because it was a country road with very little light and i didn't get close to him until he pressed brakes i think he pulled me because it was Christmas Day.

In Singapore, in order to buy a government subsidised houses, Singaporeans & PRs must first get married. For those who doesnt want to get married, you can only buy Private housings or wait until you are 35 years old. I'm 23, I don't want to get married (yet) but I want to buy an affordable house because I am sick of renting rooms/apartments. I wonder, is Singapore the only country with such rules?

I have been selected as a juror on a trial that will take approx 3 weeks. My employer pays only 3 days of my jury duty. My supervisor has been accomodating in helping me make up some of my time away but the remainder of my time spent on jury duty they are requiring me to use my accrued vacation and will not allow me to take some of the time without pay. I was trying to sacrifice a little pay to save some of my vacation time. Sitting on a jury is not my idea of a vacation and it feels as though I am being punished for being selected for this jury!

My stepfather is a registered child sex offender that is registered to one address, but actually resides with my mother and their kids at another address. I have tried to get somebody to do something about it, but CPS, the police, his probation officer, and the DA's office won't do anything to get my brothers and sisters out of harms way. They have all said that it's out of their hands. Any ideas on what can be done?
