Place a tape recorder across the room and turn it on. Stand up and read something you are familiar with as though you were talking to someone where the tape recorder is. When you finish, play back the tape recorder. Listen to it critically and determine if you need to speak louder and what you need to make your speech clearer. You may have to do this a number of times.

Try practicing in front of a mirror, and 'watch' your lips as they move. Do they stutter and pause every few seconds? Or are they moving along with your voice ?
Try recording your voice and later listen to it. Is it clear enough for someone to understand you? Or is it vauge and a mess?
Stay in the far end of a room. Try to throw your voice to the front, so that even you can hear it.
Start talking really quiet, to louder, then try speaking loud the whole time.
Be confident with your speech/work!
Hope this helps :)
* Also ask a friend to help you if they can hear you, or if it is clear or not.

What I've been always told, is to speak like your talking to the persons in the last row (back of the room).
