jw sustained a good point in my last question:
Why did Gonzales fired 8 of these attorneys and has problems while Clinton "fired" 93 and no problem.

This is what jw answered and I think he has a point:

"Clinton didn't fire them!

He did not renominate them as holdover appointments. This is a normal political purging...they were "not renominated", they were not fired. Big difference."

his whole issue revolves around letting attorneys work w/o political interference. After confirmation, it is customary to be hands off and let them work w/o political interference. It is also customary to hold them over (holdovers) during the second term. Again, for the same reasons, let them work w/o interference. The issue appears to be that loyalty to Bush seems to be the cause for termination and thusly political interference.

Please remember, Bush wanted to fire all 93 in the middle of his 2nd term which is highly, highly unusual. These AGs were his nominees. Its very odd."

I DO have it, I just could not find it that day. Can I fight it?

We lived together for 5 years in Las Vegas, then got married on 12-31-06, and we're now divorcing. Will we split things we bought with our joint account before marriage? We bought nothing together during our marriage since it was so short. Does he only take what he brought into our residence since I bought almost everything myself (he got rid of all his stuff before we moved together)? (Not real estate, just furniture, car, etc). Or since we've been married for a few weeks, can he take half of everything?

"As the pressure built up, Nixon's adamant refusal to let any of his aides testify before Ervin's committee became untenable. Hardly a legal scholar could be found to support this unheard-of claim of unqualified Executive privilege. Republican Senators began protesting just as vigorously as Nixon's Democratic critics. The President's brief and bland denials of White House involvement no longer satisfied anyone.

Finally, last week, Nixon spoke up...........

Looking tense and haggard, Nixon announced that all members of his staff will, after all, appear voluntarily before Ervin's committee ..." Time, April 30, 1973

So much for Bush's Executive privilage and his malarkey about setting non-existing precedents.

Doesn't that make you the least bit suspicious? It raises all sorts of flags for me. How can it not bother you, he wants them to talk, in private, without the "aid" of a an oath to keep them honest...and no transcript, so we will never know what went down. A man with nothing to hide shouldn't be so worried about these things. And, don't tell me that he is taking a stand agains congressional "witch-hunting", b/c I didn't hear a fuss from Repubs. when Clinton was "hunted" for a scenario with far less national implications. So does this make you trust Bush less, more or the same?

Bush said his White House counsel, Fred Fielding, told lawmakers they could interview presidential counselor Karl Rove, former White House Counsel Harriet Miers and their deputies — but only on the president's terms: in private, "without the need for an oath" and without a transcript.

I found out that my friend's computer has been confiscated from his house because the police believe he has child pornography in it. He doesn't know who reported him or anything. The thing is that he used to work at his brother's store until it closed down, and the computer he took was a computer his brother gave him, a computer that lots of people used. The store was a cybercafe so lots of people had their hands on it. It was also a show computer. He has had the computer for only about 2 weeks. If they find anything on it, can he be charged for it even though he took it from the store and has had it only 2 weeks. He doesn't have nor had internet at his house, so there's no way he could have downloaded it from his house. It's been about 1 month and a half now.

Ok, i have nothing against Gonzales nor Bush for this matter.

But why the heck doesn't he testify under oath and on record to get rid of this problem ?

If he really doesn't have anything to hide, why doesn't he testify and that's it.
It would be a great example of responsibility and accountability and i would appreciate him for that.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid , a Nevada Democrat, denounced it as well, charging the administration has offered "a bunch of different stories" about why the prosecutors were fired last year.
"Congress and the American people deserve a straight answer," Reid said. "If Karl Rove plans to tell the truth, he has nothing to fear from being under oath like any other witness."

With their if you're a conservative at 25 you have no heart, and a liberal at 35 you have no brain?

CHURCHILL NEVER SAID THAT

Churchill was in the Conservative Party at 25 and he was in the Liberal Party at 35. So why would he say something like that??? Churchill was born in 1874. He first ran for office as a Conservative. In 1904, at the age of 29, he switched from the Conservative Party to the Liberal Party. In 1924, at the age of 50, he went back into the Conservative Party.
