Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid , a Nevada Democrat, denounced it as well, charging the administration has offered "a bunch of different stories" about why the prosecutors were fired last year.
"Congress and the American people deserve a straight answer," Reid said. "If Karl Rove plans to tell the truth, he has nothing to fear from being under oath like any other witness."

BushCo had pulled this before when they had Gonzales report to a Congressional Sub committee and he was allowed by the then Republican leadership to do so with out taking an oath while all of the other people were questioned under oath.
Well We The People have spoken and the Leadership has changed. SO if there is nothing to hide and they intend to tell the truth, then there should not be a problem taking an oath and being accountable to We The People.
But then again we are talking about BushCo!

I guess the biggest reason is because if he is under oath it will become a big old run on what is going on in the whitehouse. that falls under the " none of congresses damn business" heading last time I read the constitution. The fed prosectutors are all political appointies. that means the president of the united states appoints them all to thier positions, it is also the perogative of the president if he wants to have those appointed resign thier position, or force them to do so. congress actually has no say in this and it burns them up that they don't so they are making an issue of it. Why you ask, because the debates on the war have lost momentum after the commanders in Iraq asked for thousands of more troops and have started reporting positive results in areas that they have adaquate troops in. Darn, I hate when reality messes up a good liberal fairy tail.

Because if he doesn't testify under oath and on the record, then he can say anything he wants without getting into any trouble.
