Hello!

A friend of a friend of a friend (!) was activated. I'm not sure where he's been sent, but it's in/near the Sandbox.

I'm trying to convince my friend that it is totally fine to get his mailing address and write to him, send him e-mails, care packages, etc. She thinks it's kinda weird since she doesn't actually know him. But I seem to recall that you used to be able to send stuff to ANYONE in the service - and I would think that those serving would be happy to get letters & stuff - even if they don't know the sender personally.

Can you give me some insight? Am I stuck in the "old days"? Or do servicemembers receive things like this sometimes?

THANKS!

I'm considering the Army, but worried about basic training. Any tips out there from people that have gone through it? I'm worried about that the fact that I just turned 30 and most everyone else is like 18. I scored a 74 on the ASVAB and my line scores are all atleast a 115. Is this good or should I concider something else?

I asked a question yesterday likening much of todays flawed logic in politics to the intentional satire of Johnathan Swift and ... actually got 0 answers lol... anyway if you haven't, you should take the time...about 10 minutes for the average reader I'd say.

She is a lying, manipulating ******.
A witch with a mission! When she can't give a straight answer to one of the Republican congressmen, she uses the argument of the integrity of her "service" to her country that she loves.

This was on the news this morning, and I guess the common man / woman is lucky that people who are representing their States are now able to admit they are powerless over their addictions. Now they are willing to make help available for others? Will this help the Veterans as well? Anyone?

I mean let's get real. These machines can't be stopped. They should but they can't! Both ruin the constitution which gives freedom and neither has the best in mind for the country when you take a step back and look at it! Will my kids be doomed with big government? Why can't people understand freedom and stop siding with bullshit statistics? Economic freedom and moral freedoms in the land of the free should not only be allowed, they should be fought for! What has happened to the America we use to have? The prosperous America!

Yes I was there for over a year but WHY do I nightmares about that place.

Anybody else have this problem?

I know Vietnam Vets have nightmares -- my hat is off to each and everyone of you who served.

Most scientists agree that by reducing the world economy by a 1/3 for 25 years or more will stop & reverse the effects of Global warming & the problem would be solved but............

Getting to that solution will put hundreds of millions of people around the world out of work & into poverty for the next 25 years or more years until the Global Warming problem has finally been fixed.

So how do you solve the problem of Global Warming w/o putting hundreds of millions of new people into poverty? Not to mention the disease, famine & political uphevals it would cause?

(Kyoto treaty is too little to late).

Man Who Sent Apology Sentenced for Rape
By KRISTEN GELINEAU
AP
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (March 16) - A man who sexually assaulted a University of Virginia student in 1984 and apologized to her two decades later as part of the Alcoholics Anonymous program was sentenced to 18 months in prison Thursday.

William Beebe, 42, pleaded guilty in November to one count of aggravated sexual battery for his attack on Liz Seccuro.

William Beebe, 42, pleaded guilty in November to one count of aggravated sexual battery for his attack on Liz Seccuro.

Charlottesville Circuit Court Judge Edward Hogshire ordered a 10-year prison sentence with all but 18 months suspended, as long as Beebe performs 500 hours of community service related to issues of sexual assault and alcohol abuse on college campuses. Prosecutors had recommended two years.

"I'm not trying to excuse my behavior, but I was a different person then," Beebe said. "I have a purpose, and that gives life meaning. I didn't have that then."

After the hearing, Seccuro shared a long hug with her husband. Outside court, she said she thought the sentence was "very fair."
