It is only partly true. These states have allowed the use of Marijuana in cases of chronic or terminally ill patients. It is supposed to be done under the care of a doctor. There are still Federal laws against the possession, distribution, and use of Marijuana and even people in those states are still subject to prosecution in Federal court.

As a police officer I would opine that it should be decriminalized everywhere and retro-actively. Free all those potheads that don't have other offenses and lock up some more real bad guys for longer. Every cop knows that potheads aren't the problem.

Decriminalization does not always mean legalization. It can, but not necessarily. Decriminalization is also making something less of a crime. i.e. instead of use being a disorderly persons offense it becomes a petty disorderly offense.

It is only decriminalized for MEDICINAL USE.....and this does not circumvent the federal laws. The DEA can still throw a flash bang your way if you are growing "only to sell it medicinally."

Sort of, it's only for medical use, but people who use it are still subject to federal drug laws.
