I wonder how the religions would answer that...

Wise people usually understand that the more they help people the more profits they make. Most profit driven business don't last long. People don't like getting screwed.

As to the government, is from the people and to the people, but that's just BS these days. The people representative are getting bought by corporations. To them profits is obviously more important.

Without profit, there is no business. The whole POINT of business is to generate income. You didn't get a job to help the customer, you got it for the paycheck! Those who started the business feel the same way. The government is a non-profit organization, which they prove every day! If you're so concerned about the "people", do something for them!

It can never be either one. It's back and forth. Without profits, there will eventually be no people. Without people, there will eventually be no profits. What it really boils down to in my mind, is the balance between the two.

Yes, it boils down to that question -- a little more broadly, perhaps where the other non-monetary side of the scales might be the environment, or social justice, or similar concerns.

As to the answer, it depends on the individual and what they value.

I think, of course, people. Profits are only going to make you happy for a little while, until it is gone. Plus, you cant take it with you when you're gone. Get along with more people, and the more happiness you will see!!

people are driven by profits.

people have unlimited wants and needs they try to satisfy using scarce resources.

if someone chooses people, they either:
A) made enough profit, to satisfy their wants and needs
or
B) have class envy, and seek to redistribute wealth,

Everywhere I've ever worked it's been about profit. It should be about people.
