Part of this idea has been mentioned in the media before but I have expanded on it.

Iraq's history begean after World War 1, "When the defeated Ottoman empire was broken up, three Ottoman provinces were combined into the British mandate (protectorate) of Iraq. After a short period of British control, Iraq became a fully sovereign kingdom in 1932." - The Economist.

Iraq's main problem is Shiite vs. Sunni and the US is caught in the middle (stirred up the ants nest). Saudi Arabia is a Sunni power and is a Iran Shiite power, hence the intense interest in influencing Irawi politics.

Why doesn't the USA recall the troops, back out, allow the country to be split into 3 like it originally was and let Saudi Arabia and Iran fight over the segments if they want to?

I asked why bush says he's fighting for liberty yet supports abortion. I never stated that I support having an abortion however. I'm saying that liberty by definition is

1 : the quality or state of being free: a : the power to do as one pleases b : freedom from physical restraint c : freedom from arbitrary or despotic control d : the positive enjoyment of various social, political, or economic rights and privileges e : the power of choice

How could you say that you support liberty yet not support the choice of another human being. All that crap about murder, PAAAALEASE!!! Its not your body. If you can't provide the type of life for the child and can't mentally take the burden of passing your child on to another person, why should you have it?

I'm in favor of pro-choice all the way because its the AMERICAN thing to do. But certain stipulations should be applied. Having an abortion 10 tims is abuse and carelessness.

New Orleans, the "Big Easy" city famous for its good times and relaxed attitude, has become the Big Uneasy in recent weeks as its murder count has soared and anger grown at local leaders unable to stop the violence. Annual Mardi Gras celebrations unfolded without incident this weekend, but fear of the rampant blood-spilling and its threat to the city's recovery from Hurricane Katrina are constant topics of conversation. The homicide total for a still-young 2007 climbed to 27 on Saturday with the dead of a man shot at a nightclub on Friday. He was one of nine people shot in separate incidents in a seven-hour span on Thursday and Friday, and the third of them to die. Local leaders, worried crime may scare away tourists who are the life-blood of the economy, stressed that the shootings did not take place at Mardi Gras events and assured visitors violent crime is largely restricted to "hot spots," or impoverished neighborhoods where visitors seldom go.

75% opposition to this and who bets it will be passed through Govt. and become yet another people taxation? I personally don't drive on roads but the point being made is that 75% is three quarters of the vote ! Yet here in dictator britain that will not mean a thing will it ? So how ON EARTH can anyone say that UK is a democracy?. Just wait and see the results of this issue?. No different to the opposition to the Iraq war?. Really do you the people have ANY SAY in anything at all ?

I am going to join the Navy in the summer, after graduation, as an officer in the Warfare Dept.

This is part due to a yearning to see the world and some action, and to meet and work with good people. More than that, though, I have heard the call of the sea (I hope some old mariners know what I mean!).

I have to admit, a tiny part of me is attracted to the life of the old sea dog, drunken in exotic ports with a beard the size of Angola. Is this life long, long dead in this modern age?

I just want a good life on the waves!

Thanks!

The Dems confuse me.

They say they support the troops.

They say they don't support the mission.

Or maybe they DO support the mission.

Henry Waxman said we have already been defeated in Iraq.

They don't support increasing the number of troops.
-But if we increased the troops, wouldn't that be SUPPORTING the troops? They would be safer.

They say they want a gradual withdrawal.
-Why gradual? Why not bring the troops home now?

They say they want the mission ended.
-Wouldn't increasing the number of troops help to speed the mission along?

Personally, I think we should send as many troops as we can, and get the job done.

What is the Democrat viewpoint on the mission in Iraq?

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says that he (his country) is willing to negotiate the nuclear program if the US stops its nuclear program. Everyone seems to agree that this is just another one of Iran's little games. If we disarm we will be vulnerable but if we do not we are at risk of being unfair and causing more political problems. Iran should not have nuclear weapons because it has stated it wants to wipe Israel of the map with nuclear weapons. So with every thing you know, what is the best thing for the US to do next?

MANAMA (AFP) - A second US aircraft carrier has arrived in Middle Eastern waters as promised by US President George W. Bush in January amid an escalating crisis with nearby Iran over its nuclear program.

The USS John C. Stennis and its accompanying strike group joined the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower in the Sea of Oman but has not yet entered Gulf waters, the US Fifth Fleet said Tuesday from its base in Manama.

The Stennis "entered the US 5th Fleet area of operations... to conduct maritime security operations in regional waters, as well as to provide support for ground forces operating in Afghanistan and Iraq," said a US statement.

Bush on January 10 unveiled his new strategy for Iraq which included deploying a second aircraft carrier group and a Patriot anti-missile defense system "to reassure our friends and allies."

shouldn't the same right be extended to men?

If I enjoy a one-night stand and end up impregnating the woman, shouldn't I have the right to decline all parental rights and responsibilities, post-conception, just like she does? After all, I "choose" not to become a parent, so therefore it should be nobody's choice but mine whether I should pay child-support.

It seems the Fourteenth Amendment's Equal Protection Clause should be applicable in cases like these.
