MANAMA (AFP) - A second US aircraft carrier has arrived in Middle Eastern waters as promised by US President George W. Bush in January amid an escalating crisis with nearby Iran over its nuclear program.

The USS John C. Stennis and its accompanying strike group joined the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower in the Sea of Oman but has not yet entered Gulf waters, the US Fifth Fleet said Tuesday from its base in Manama.

The Stennis "entered the US 5th Fleet area of operations... to conduct maritime security operations in regional waters, as well as to provide support for ground forces operating in Afghanistan and Iraq," said a US statement.

Bush on January 10 unveiled his new strategy for Iraq which included deploying a second aircraft carrier group and a Patriot anti-missile defense system "to reassure our friends and allies."

The rest of the article .

Again how will this effect civil rights and the level of terror here ?

Washington accuses arch-foe Tehran of stoking the insurgency in Iraq and of seeking to develop a nuclear bomb, charges denied by the Islamic republic.

Days after Bush's announcement, US Defense Secretary Robert Gates said the Stennis's redeployment was a signal to Iran, which, he said, has a "very negative" attitude.

Iran has also been carrying out military exercises in the region, including test-firing missiles and building drones that military commanders boasted could hit the US Navy.

Very soon and the terror will go up as our terror in the Middle East does. Drop bombs on Iran and bombs will go off here somehow. Tit for tat for the evangelicals here. An eye for an eye and all that. The Global Terrorism Report put out by our own people clearly states that terror is on the rise directly in proportion to our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Iran should help immensely. Can we stop Bush/Cheney? They say no.

War with Iran isn't going to happen, unless Iran does something stupid.

The problem has been the mixed signals received in Iran, and the additional carrier group is a message regarding which signal Tehran should pay attention to.

With Democrats and the Iraq Surrender Group saying we should ask Iran to help settle down Iraq, they must have been laughing to themselves about the stupid Americans, like they laughed at Carter for his weakness after they took over the US embassy [an act of war]. So many calling for dialogue with one of the main sponsors of chaos and anarchy in Iraq; such willful ignorance.

Bush had to get their attention and let them know the "engage Iran" folks are just ankle-biters; the Mullahs need to pay attention to the "Decider".

This demonstration of power projection is to keep Iran thinking straight.

We won't go to war with Iran we don't' have the troops for it. They would have to restart the draft or pull back all troops from abroad to attack Iran. And if people think Iraq is a mess just wait until we attack Iran. Iraq will look like a cake walk. Besides there's no reason to attack Iran. if the Israelis want to bomb Iran then let them do it and we should stay out of it

Bush's administration claims that weapons were supplied by Iran. Yet top military officials cannot confirm such claims. News media shows the administrations claims but fails to show military officials' counter-claim.

Our troops over in Iraq are already under-equipped. Now we send more troops in with a shortage of weapons, ammunitions, armors, vehicles, etc. What about the new troops needed to invade Iran. Will they be throwing rocks?

One thing I think we should be prepared for is terror attacks on US soil, if there is war.

My guess is that there are sleeper cells here.

I hope I'm wrong!
