Hmmm ... did you realize that "license" is a verb and "licence" is a noun?

Tickets issued in your state will have to be definitely paid off before you can get your licence renewed (or your plates and registration renewed, if it doesn't happen at the same time).

Tickets issued out-of-state MAY not have to be paid ... depends on whether there's usually discussion back and forth between the one you're renewing in and the one where the infraction occurred.

Best bet is to have enough on you to pay the tickets (you can do this at the DMV) AND have enough to renew the licence and whatever else needs to be done, all at once. Otherwise you'll be making multiple trips ... and probably ticketed again, if you need to drive away to obtain cash for renewing the licence!

The department of motor vehicles or whatever it is called in your state is not connected to the police computers. It'll only say valid or not and the reason if not valid. You should have no trouble getting an ID only as that is intended for people who do not qualify for a regular license.

yes you will have to pay your tickets then you will have to pay the license fee's, but they give you the option of paying for all in the DMV
