Legally, the judicial system should prevent the government, even a majority, from passing legislation restricting the rights of a minority, unless they have enough of a majority to amend the Constitution. So there is a situation in which it is LEGAL for the will of the majority to infringe upon the rights of the minority.

Are the judicial, legislative, and executive branches of government doing enough to protect the rights of minorities (same-sex marriage, separation of church and state, etc.) from the will of the majority?
Is it ever morally correct for the majority to take the rights away from a minority?

Is the firing US Federal Prosecutors a good sign for the orderly transition of power?

Former aide to presidential adviser Karl Rove is a new top federal prosecutor in Arkansas so could we assume this is a Rove project meant to smooth the aftermath from Bush vacating the White House?

FAITH is not believing God can. It is KNOWING that God will.

In a message dated 1/13/2007 1:09:40 P.M. Central Standard Time, EQuashenci writes:

Probable U. S. presidential candidate, Barack Hussein Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., a black Muslim from Nyangoma-Kogel, Kenya and Ann Dunham, a white atheist from Wichita, Kansas. Obama's parents met at the University of Hawaii.

When Obama was two years old, his parents divorced. His father returned to Kenya. His mother then married Lolo Soetoro, a radical Muslim from Indonesia. When Obama was 6 years old, the family relocated to Indonesia. Obama attended a Muslim school in Jakarta. He also spent two years in a Catholic school.

Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim. He is quick to point out that, "He was once a Muslim, but that he also attended Catholic school."

Obama's political handlers are attempting to make it appear that Obama's introduction to Islam came via his father, and that this influence was temporary at best. In reality, the senior Obama returned to Kenya soon after the divorce, and never again had any direct influence over his son's education. Lolo Soetoro, the second husband of Obama's mother, Ann Dunham, introduced his stepson to Islam. Osama was enrolled in a Wahabi school in Jakarta. Wahabism is the radical teaching that is followed by the Muslim terrorists who are now waging Jihad against the western world.

Since it is politically expedient to be a Christian when seeking major public office in the United States, Barack Hussein Obama has joined the United Church of Christ in an attempt to downplay his Muslim background.

Let us all remain alert concerning Obama's expected presidential candidacy.

Does she get credit for the good, blame for the bad, positives because she has him as an advisor, or negatives because she will be perceived as leveraging her husband's position?

Or should it have no effect?

I dunno. I remember that when Bill ran in 1992, they said "you get two for one" or something like that. That was criticized.

So what will happen? What SHOULD happen? I'm guessing relatively non-partisan answers will be best, because this issue could come up again with others in the future.

Thanks.

On political expression in newspapers, Murdoch said he did think they were an appropriate forum, calling it "a matter of freedom of speech in editorials." He said the New York Times was "outrageously biased," and defended the New York Post's news pages. He admitted that he often disagrees with things that appear on the Post's editorial pages, but that for the most part his views were "broadly in alignment" with the newspaper's.

Millions, if not billions of dollars were pumped into this neo-lib social experiment. George Soros must be sorely disappointed. Liberals opinions just don't translate to ratings I guess.

okay i heard this news story and I guess in CA. USA there is an idea that they are tring to get on a ballot...
it said that:
If you marry you must have kids with in 3 years or your marriage is annulled.

I know this will never pass due to people not wanting kids, people who can't have kids...
it is the only way they can find to not allow gay marriage...

frankly i think this idea is crap! What do you think i am looking for objective views! if your married how would you feel if you had no choice but to have a kid or your marrage was just a figment of your imagination!

if i'm wrong then stop me but isn't marriage about LOVE?

Interesting one this, and yes smoking is a bad habit and being a motorcyclist am always well aware of making sure of checking my mirrors before I have done it. Rich people with open top mercs and bmw's please duck. Just kidding.

Yes, I am a smoker and do occassionally smoke in the car. I recently received a notice from my local authority stating that It had been noted that a male driver was seen throwing a cigarette butt out of the car window at a traffic light junction in my home town in East Yorkshire. They want me to pay £75.00, YES 75 QUID, to avoid going to court. Something to do with the environment protection act.

Has anyone else come across this and if so what did you do.

If you do smoke in your car be sure to deposit your cig in the car's ashtray or don't smoke in it. Also if you have kids make sure they don't throw anything out of the window or on the floor when you go in town. On the spot fnes can be issued to

In my G/F's divorce agreement, her x-husband pays 60% of the medical bills for their children, while she pays 40% (After insurance, of coarse). Anyhow, the bills seem to be mostly in her name, to where if she pays her 40%, then he still is not obligated to pay, being that the collectors will still come after her rather than him.
Is there a way for her to get the bills switched over to him after paying her 40% so that she doesn't have to get any bad credit in her name, and he is still forced to pay the bills?

In 2006, I renewed my cell phone through an agent of Verizon’s named: WireFly
After having faithfully paid the entire amounts due each month for 6+ months, I copied and sent ALL information required to receive my $150 Customer Loyalty Rebate, including a copy of my wireless bill dated between 150 and 210 days after my activation date of 01/12/2006, which was no earlier than 06/11/2006 (150-days) and no later than 07/30/2006 (210-days); and then later revised by their on-screen WEB-site
( www.cellphonerebates.com ) which revised the original contract to read: “to be postmarked NOT earlier than 180-days” and in my case NOT earlier than 07/11/2006. Having done all this, I am still waiting as of Thursday, February 08, 2007 in what appears to be an intentional FRAUD perpetrated by Verizon and agent/s with regards to the payment of such rebates. Does anyone know of any CLASS Action against Verizon and its agent/s with regards to this matter of so-called: Customer Loyalty Rebate?

History tells European powers through religion excuses end up colonizing Africa, and the rest of world! in modern day North Americans Powers in the name of terrorism are now governing iraq, and Afghanistan Indirectly. Also forgetting that they themselves terrorizing the innocent Inhabitants of these countries. Iraq under saddam was well off, though saddam was using Iron fist to govern Iraq. Afghan was better though yet poor but as a result the attach on them by North American powers they became poorer! the Truth is North America doesnot have a solid prove of terrorism but rather theories and believes and a minute evidence that doesnot stand firm! From my judgement the North powers is trying to steal the wealth of these vulnarable countries just as the European did in the 19th century leaving them poor and weak!

FOX-news-neo-cons-chickenhawks etc. were blindly backing -helping to spread the word that everything in Iraq is going well-that it was the commie liberals etc. that were spreading lies...it apppears the Bush adm had been lying about the progress of the War. It was responsible journalism that was providing a more accurate story as it turns out. If the Bush adm. had recognized and faced problems earlier they may have been able to make changes in their approach to the War. I though "Mission Accomplished" was the stupidist phrase ever ..."Stay the Course!!!!!" Thank you my neo-con freinds for being part of a great lie...
