Actually, the House Sergeant at Arms is the one insisting that the Speaker of the House (regardless of party) travel in a military transport. The former Republican speaker traveled home in the same fashion.

According to both the White House and the House Sergeant, neither the Speaker or her office have requested this form of travel. White House defends Pelosi plane request

The White House on Thursday defended House Speaker Nancy Pelosi against Republican criticism that her desire to fly in an Air Force transport plane is an extravagance.

"This is a silly story and I think it's been unfair to the speaker," White House spokesman Tony Snow said.

I don't believe everything that i read in the newspapers because the corprate media like to exaggerate that how they sell newspapers but she knows who she is, the speaker of the house and if the majority of the american people let her get away with what she wants, she will.

She might think she's the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, which would make her the second in line to the presidency of the United states (that is, if the president and vice president can't fill the role, she will have to). I'd say that warrants a jet.

Quit spearding lies

FACT: Pelosi’s use of a military aircraft is about security, not “personal accomodation.” It was House Sergeant at Arms Wilson Livingood who initiated inquiries into the aircraft. “I advised Speaker Pelosi that the US Air Force had made an airplane available to Speaker Hastert” following 9/11, Livingood wrote, and “I offered to call the U.S. Air Force and Department of Defense to seek clarification of the guidelines [which governed Speaker Hastert’s use of a plane].”

FACT: Pelosi’s office has already said she “will not use the plane for political travel.”
.”

FACT: Both the Washington Post and Roll Call have reported that the plane used by Speaker Hastert was too small for Pelosi since it “needs to refuel every 2,000 miles and could not make the nonstop haul to California. ‘The Air Force determined that [Pelosi’s] safety would be best ensured by using a plane that has the fuel capacity to go coast-to-coast,’” a Pelosi spokesperson said.

FACT: Pelosi’s office says “it is up to the Air Force to decide what type and size of plane will be required,” and that “she has never asked for a plane or space on a plane to accommodate ’supporters.

I heard on the radio today that it costs $600,000. to fly the larger jet that she's whining for....from Washington DC to San Francisco and back.

$600,000!!!.....

Not to mention all those emissions that she's so worried about.
If she's so concerned about "security" then why can't she refuel at a military base?

Are there really people here who think she needs a 757 at her disposal 24/7??
WHY??

Pelosi's Law:....Do as I SAY...not as I do.

She is requesting a 757. Can you believe it. And she has the audacity to claim hers is the party of "the little people." Remember this when she calls for tax hikes.
Her elitist arrogance is certainly on display for all to see.

Her claim is that she needs a jet to hold enough fuel to bring her blinking self to California.

you do know she wanted to go commuter jet.. they told her for security purposes they wanted her on an air force plane.. then told her she couldn't have one that could make the trip non-stop.. she said give me one non-stop or I'll just stick with commuter.. they are the ones that want her on the air force plane.. she just wants to get home to her family as quickly as possible... it just happens that the airforce only has a few styles of planes that can make the trip non-stop.. and they are all large.
