My daughter is a first year cadet in Air Force Junior Rotc ( she's a freshman in highschool) . Today was promotion day and she became a staff sergeant and personnel commander. I have no idea what this means but she seems very excited about this. Can someone give me a crash course in ROTC stuff?

I have been charged with this about 7 years ago when I was 17 (but was charged as an ADULT due to the 707 hearing for juveniles who commit serious crimes) and as I remember, the judge telling me that this was a felony and I almost received a strike for it but extra money to my lawyer got that strike taken off.

Anyways, just recently a family member of mine who is a Deputy Sheriff for the same county that I was charged with told me that they looked at my files and said that it wasn't a felony or didn't see anything that was a felony charge, I know that the court can mess up plenty of times and make errors with court reports but when I apply for a job and they check my background they deny me of the job because of this conviction. So now I am really confused because my relative who is a Sheriff Deputy says I don't have felonies but the background checks say that it is and as I remember, I DID get charged with a felony. Anyone who knows a lot about California State laws please help!

overwhelmingly angry and unable to consider the viewpoints of the other side before writing an insulting answer. An example, I asked about global warming and was told that I didn't understand science and was an idiot because I did not think we should agree to Kyoto treaty based on a hypothesis. I have 4 college degrees and 3 are in hard sciences(medicine, biology and chemistry) and 1 in archaeology( overall GPA 3.8). Nevertheless some liberal folks said I was stupid, failed to grasp the theory, and that I was clearly uneducated. The next day I asked about Iraq and the conservatives called me unamerican and a coward. I answered a question about evolution and the christians called me a liar and I answered a question about the mideast and the muslims went nuts and threatened to kill my firstborn male child. Why so intolerant and serious all the time? I deal with people's lives everyday and I use Y/A to relax, not to be insulted. Open to all

Considering Bosnia, was Clinton a better war president?
George H.W. Bush was a better war president too in my opinion. During wartime and peacetimes, both presidents had far less scandals and far less failures than our current president.

ever thought about those who drive under the influence of alcohol vs. the person who is extremely tired. in both situations the person who is very tired will have the same delay reaction to that who is under the influence. so why is the person who gets pulled over not in trouble if they are sleepy to that who is under the influence?

I am just curious what current and former veterans of the US armed forces think about our actions in Iraq. Do you agree with our reasons for being over there? Or do you think we are meddling in places where we aren't wanted? I'm not even saying what I believe. I am just curious how some of our military men and women feel.

Hasn't anybody learned that when you put the government in charge of something - it ends up costing double or triple and it is highly unorganized. Most of our congress people are barely fit to tie their shoes and you really want them in conducting the business of your health.

I took my 1999 Taurus to a Monroe Muffler Service Establishment after hearing a loud noise that sounded like a bad exhaust problem. He called me later stating there was a whole in the pipe that houses the catalytic converter and it would be 800.00 to fix it. He assured me this was the lowest price around and I should check with other places for pricing. So, I took his advice and took it to another muffler shop. After their inspection, there was a small weldable hole on the top of one of the pipes, but there was a much bigger problem. One of my spark plugs fell out of the back of the engine causing the noise, not the pipe that Monroe told had said. So, I've been driving the car around, after I was assured it was okay to by Monroe, until I had enought money to get it fixed. (I was planning on getting it fixed the end of the week.). Is there any liability there with Monroe? Why couldn't they discern the different noises? Either muffler or spark plug related? Help?

It seems that the only questions in Politics last week were about Global Warming. Now that its been a couple of weeks since the news of the consensus on the wording of the UN Commission Report on Climate Change has been out not a peep to be heard. If it is truly a threat shouldn't it be more in the forefront of our conscience?
