My daughter is a first year cadet in Air Force Junior Rotc ( she's a freshman in highschool) . Today was promotion day and she became a staff sergeant and personnel commander. I have no idea what this means but she seems very excited about this. Can someone give me a crash course in ROTC stuff?

A Staff Sergeant (SSgt) pay grade E-5 (if she were paid) is an NCO or Non-Commissioned Officer. In High School JROTC promotions through E-5/6 are pretty much handed out to fill positions on the 'Duty Roster/Manning Document' to those who, basically, don't screw up! Don't stifle her enthusiasm, but that's it. Now, after a while if she does well, she may be promoted into an Officer slot where she will have 'real' responsibility.

once you note for school, you note for ROTC. The 4 years are extremely straight forward to comprehend. the first 2 years are observed as non-criminal responsibility years. this suggests you are able to take the first 2 years of ROTC and not in any respect have a accountability to affix the Air stress. in case you proceed onto years 3 and four then you genuinely have a accountability interior the Air stress. And your ROTC commencement will be an same as your college commencement.

Usually a staff seargent is a Non comissioned officer. I guess that this is simular but downsized to the rotc. She has probobly done something well since it look like some kind of reward. Mayby you could call/email someone in charge of her school/training and they will most gladely answer your question. Johan
