Hasn't anybody learned that when you put the government in charge of something - it ends up costing double or triple and it is highly unorganized. Most of our congress people are barely fit to tie their shoes and you really want them in conducting the business of your health.

I don't believe "We" do. The people that want it are the politicians who gain more power by giving handouts to the simple minded.

First, there is need for a certain amount of nationalized health care. When you have low income families who have both the mom and dad working and their choice is either health care or food, they will pick food. When you have elderly individuals who have to decide between heating their apartment and their medication, they'll chose the heat. Without a doubt and with only a fool saying that health care is not needed, even as a Conservative, I agree that health care for the poor and the old is needed.

Now for the obvious point. We already have Medicaid and Medicare. One for the poor and one for the elderly. I don't see why we need more?

For those who can afford it through an employer, we don't want the government getting involved. For the young, some say they don't need it or need very limited coverage, why should government require everbody to be covered to a certain level. Looks like the government would have already realized with its Medicare, Medicaid, Government Workers Health Care and Military/Civilian Care programs that their involvement will only increase our national burden. When people have health care coverage and its free, they'll only abuse the system with doctor visits when over the counter medications would most like do the job.

And, overcrowding initiates long wait times for routine appointment and even longer waits for required health care. All America has to do is look at Canada and England. Why do Canadian doctor come to practice in the USA? Whey are British citizens excited when they can select a private insurance carrier and opt out of National Health Care. Its because National Health Care doesn't work!

So, don't make me and my family join some government contracted HMO where the responsibility for my health care goes to the lowest bidder. I don't want to be forced to go to a medical system where the first priority is profitability for some corporation instead of person to doctor service.

These left wing whackos like Hillary who is a borderline Socialist who feels that government should take care of everybody's problems scare the heck out of me.

Sorry this response is so long....

Well, that is a simple strawman argument. Let us look at what is happening today in the US. There are approximately 45 million folks without health insurance. Where do they go when the disease or illness is finally enough to make them go to get help? The ER! This puts an enormous burden on our hospitals. We need to treat illness before it gets to be a critical emergency.

We have children who are not being treated. We have expectant mothers who do not get adequate pre-natal visits. We then have babies born with health problems. More of a burden.

A health care system for all will result in healthier Americans, more workers showing up to work (many of the employed do not have health insurance) each day. Healthier workers are smarter and harder working workers.

If you believe in family values, make sure that part of those values include treating the sick no matter what their income is. And let's stop making people have to declare bankruptcy because they got sick and are now facing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of hospital bills.

BTW, I have health care.

Because people have come to hate the American way and long for a more equal, but weaker society...

"The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of the blessings. The inherent blessing of socialism is the equal sharing of misery."
-Winston Churchill

"If you think health care is expensive now, wait until you see what it costs when it's free! "
-P.J. O'Rourke

"In general, the art of government consists of taking as much money as possible from one party of the citizens to give to the other."
-Voltaire (1764)

"The government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no responsibility at the other."
-Ronald Reagan

There are two sides to this problem. There are people who -- through no fault of their own -- do not receive what any of us would consider adequate health care. A national health care program would fill this gap.

For instance, babies and children don't create the situation they are in and have no recourse to fix their situation. You can't blame them for problems caused by their parents. So there are people who feel that at least good pre-natal care and good child health care would pay off long term.

Currently, our health care system is run by bean counters; decisions about your life and limits on treatment fall on the shoulders of accountants, not health care professionals. No, I don't want politicians making health decisions for me. But I don't want accountants making them either. Our entire system needs a major overhaul.

I wonder the same thing. Where I live there's Medicare, Medicaid and even a local health insurance for poor people. The illegal aliens all go to the ER's and don't pay for their care.

Why add a huge bureaucracy that will duplicate what we already have?

I don't think we need national health care, but it would be great if the US Congress both houses had the same health care we are able to obtain. You would see Heath care reform that would benefit everyone!!!!

Read Clinton's healthcare plan carefully.

She would want us to visit doctors in our neighborhood. Not the best doctors available, only local doctors.

I am willing to bet that our good senators that vote for this crazy idea wouldn't go to doctors in their neighborhood - but the best available.

There is NOTHING wrong with our current healthcare system other than the freebees that illegals receive.

I've saying the same thing, funny how the same batch of folks demanding it are the same ones that say a national ID card is an invasion of privacy. Ummm a card that tells them I'm a legal resident of the US is less of an invasion than having them know every-time I go in for an exam ;-)

Some people cannot afford health care and those free clinics are not sufficient to handle real problems. Those government officials will only be funding the program not executing it, real health care professionals will be running it.
