Heard of the phrase "double-standard"?. That's what it is. Bush simply think that the U.S. got the sole right to do things, but others cannot do the same.
You can call it a lack of foresight on the part of Bush and his Pentagon buddies or just plain stupidity. Bush had just put his foot where his mouth is on this one.

It's not wrong just annoying. The capability to destroy satellites is short sighted as the destroyed satellite will send space junk all over the place making life for other satellites and space craft that much more dangerous. This is why no one has been building new anti-satellite systems for years. i will admit that dumping the ABM treaty was bad idea but that was spawned by the threat of North Korea's nuclear missile programs. There are better ways to take out satellites than blowing them up like a microwave weapon to fry the satellites electronics or a laser that is just powerful enough to damage the electronics. another weapon though it sounds comical is a glorified paint balloon that would cover all those spy satellites cameras or a wire mesh net that would stop all signals to and from the satellite. All this is pointless conjecture as neither country is going to go to war with the other as it would be suicidal.

Nothing was wrong with it at all but the US and the Republicans think that they are the only ones who should have this kind of power!
